Hey Ladies.

I am after a little bit of information.

I have just finished six cycles of Clomid (although I am 17 days late for AF on the 6th and had a negative blood test done at 7 days late).

I have Amenorrhoea (no periods) and before going on the Clomid I hadn't had a period for 32 month.

Hubbys SA is perfect.

I was wondering if any of you ladies might be able to give me some insight as to what will happen at my next appointment and maybe advise some treatments I may be offered?

We haven't decided whether we are going to try further treatments or go for adoption but I like to know as much information as possible so that I can make a better and more informed decision.

I understand that every doctor/woman is different, I'm just looking for any information I can get.

Thanks.

Best of luck to everyone. X

Femara is a GREAT alternative to Clomid. Femara is much like Clomid but it does not thin your uterine lining and does not effect cervical mucus like Clomid does.

You could always look into doing IUI's. Some people will try 1 or 2 IUI's with just Femara, then if those fail you can add injectables with Femara and IUI.

Injectables sound scary, but honestly they are so easy/very little discomfort.

I have done 5 IUI's and I'm in the middle of an IVF cycle. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer.

Hi Princess Lou, I did four rounds of clomid and it didn't work for me.
We are now trying injectables, which as PCOSMomtoOne said are much simpler than they sound - and I'm a complete wimp.

All I had to do was inject each evening for eight days and then a final injection to induce ovulation. I had scans every two days and now we are waiting to see what happens - fingers crossed we will get the news we are so hoping for :winkwink:

The next step for us would be two further rounds of injections before going to IUIl, which is the same process but the doctors ensure the sperm meets the egg. It's like giving is a bit of a helping hand.

Following that it's IVF. Or in our PCT that is the process.
Depending on your situation is can be expensive - we are looking at £700 per round of injections and we aren't elligible for funding as my hubby has a child from a previous relationship.

I hope this helps explain things

Hello
How did your cycles work out on clomid? Did you ovulate? If so, there is iui which is what I'm doing and the mo and what the other girls have mentioned, cheaper that IVF:thumbup: but less success, I believe uk success rates are 1 in 8, I got patient and I'm doing my second iui now and prep for IVF (bloods etc)

When is your next FS appointment?

Hey, thanks for the responses.

I didn't ovulate on 50mg of Clomid but I did on 100mg and 150mg and I believe I did on 200mg (can't see why I wouldn't when I did on a lower dose).

I am waiting for my next appointment to come through but I was told nearly two weeks ago that the waiting time is about twelve weeks. (Only two clinics on NHS in Northern Ireland and we can't afford to go private.)

I haven't been told anything about IUI or IVF yet but I do know that for IVF your BMI has to be 25 or lower which is something I am working on doing now just in case (and it won't hurt me to get in better shape).

When I was prescribed Clomid my FS did mention that if Clomid didn't work he would consider an operation or injections. Only problem is, I am petrified of needles (it takes a lot to even get a blood test done and once it's done I have to be brought round after fainting - every time, lol).

The thing that is of most concern to my hubby and I is not that we aren't getting pregnant, it's that not one doctor has told us the cause of the problems. We don't know why we can't. Hopefully when I visit my GP on Wednesday I will be able to get some answers. Fingers crossed. Lol.

Thanks for your responses.

Best of luck to everyone.

Xx

oh hon, nightmare about the needles, the problem with IUI is that there are needles, could your DH do it for you? My friend who did IVF had her husband do the injections as she was the same as you with regards to needles.

also the BMI for IVF... My friend had to get hers down to below 30 on the NHS near london, a BMI of 25 is a bit extreme, is that what the doc told you?

I know what you mean about being worried that you dont know what the problem is. We feel the same, its so frustrating.

fx for you, hopefully the next 12 weeks will go fast, keep yourself busy hon:hugs:
