I'm curious if this has unfortunately happened to anyone else?

I fainted after my shower for the second time this pregnancy (I am 29 weeks currently). I am guilty both times for taking too hot of a shower. I also didn't have anything in my stomach or anything to drink yet as I took a shower first thing this morning. I have a history this pregnancy of feeling light-headed due to low blood pressure (last bp was 129/52).

I am also rocking a nasty rug burn on my left knee, a bruise on my right thigh and a red nose. My husband thinks I may have fallen off the bed which makes sense as I 'came to' on a different part of the bed that I initially laid down on when I started to feel like I was going to faint. I've been resting up all day, and believe me when I say that I have finally learned my lesson. The baby seems to be fine as he is moving around. I just pray that this never happens again. It's scary.

Whenever you feel low or fainty, you need some sugar in your blood pronto. So keep a bar of chocolate handy...(provided you are not diabetic). It can give you an instant rush of glucose/sugar in your body which will keep your BP on a better level. Have you been checked if you are anaemic? Hot showers can make the BP suddenly drop further when we switch off the shower and come out of it, try to avoid them, I love hot showers to but during pregnancy it is not recommended - sorry for the lecture but you will be ok, when I felt a little light headed which I did during 24th week, I made sure OH was with me in the bathroom incase I just fainted x

i really don't think a hot shower really causes you to pass out. I take a hot shower every day.. haha.
.. i passed out once during my 1st trimester. During my 2nd,i would get light-headed to the point it would be blotchy to see and it happened at work alot ( i work mainly 6am to about 2pm) where they would tell me go take a break and eat something. Everytime i would eat something with salt and sugar and some water- i would be fine. I told my doctor about it he told me usually it's to do with food and also getting up and moving around too fast. He told me i needed to lay in bed for a few before getting up, eat first thing!!! (before my shower, he even told me put some crackers besides the bed if i can.), and when i'm at work if they allow me to sit when i can do that but don't imeediately get up and high tail it... since then i've listened to him and i havent had a problem.

I've taken hot showers and felt like passing out too.. can have something to do with blood pressure, blood sugar.. but I'd say it's pretty normal unless it happens every single day.

Before I hit third trimester, I used to hang out in the hot tub (dr okayed it) and then one day I passed out in it, and I had to be carried out. Then it happened again. And then on the third time, I decided that there was a connection and I wasnt gonna do it again.

Make sure youre very well hydrated before you get in the shower...dont stay too long...and when you first feel fainty, get out.

Good advice. Thank you. I take B12 and folic acid everyday which is supposed to help with anemia. I'm going to be careful from here on out. It doesn't hurt that I have a history of seizures (epilepsy) so my mind cannot help but to go there, but my husband doubts I had one (they are rare and I am also on meds for them). I hope it was just an unfortunate fainting episode and it never happens again!

This happened to me @ 16 weeks, and when I went to the hospital I was treated for dehydration (IV fluids) and that did the trick! I don't recall them mentioning my BP being low, but everyone is different! This has also happened pre pregnancy, always during/after a hot shower when I hadn't eaten.

I was at a concert around 11w and passed out due to the heat. Thankfully I came to shortly afterwards, and my husband had brought water to help rehydrate me.

I've almost always woke up in the morning feeling low blood sugary and light headed. Turns out I was a bit anemic. Ever since they diagnosed that and I started taking iron pills, no more light-headedness and no more prone to passing out.

i'm currently off work because of recurrent fainting that has happened since about 12 weeks. For me it is not related to blood sugar, as many times I had recently eaten. if fact one of the times i fainted a coworker tested my blood sugar (i'm a nurse) and it was perfectly fine. my dr figures it is more to do with the vascular changes in pregnancy. so yes, to me it does sound like maybe your hot shower was a bit too much for your blood vessels. all the heat causes your vessels to dilate. and also maybe your shower was a bit too long... all that standing, combined with dilated blood vessels...

glad you're okay, but I hope it doesn't happen for you anymore. I know it's not fun :(

I've had the same thing.. so bad to where my hearing and sight starts going out and I almost faint, and then I try to eat and feel sick to my stomach and have to sip juice for like an hour then eat.. so, even if I'm not hungry I keep something in my tummy to avoid it.. it totally sucks!
