Im getting in a bit of a pickle with meal times. I want us to all eat together but this is becoming impossible as Jack is literally screaming for his food bang on 5pm. DH is usually home around then but this week it has been more like 5.30 onwards. I know most people's DHs prob are home even later than that so how do you do mealtimes? I want us all to eat the same food together but if Jack eats at 5 our food will be cold so this week I have found myself giving him something from the freezer (I always freeze leftover meals for situations like these). I don't want to do that every day as want him to have freshly cooked food.

Any tips?

We don't have dinner at the same time much anymore because OH's daily rhythm has gone a bit nocturnal so Maria usually has leftovers for dinner now but I try and eat something with her so she's not eating alone.

I tend to give my little one her food at 5 but a slightly smaller portion, then when we sit down at 6 she gets bits of what we eat too, then her pudding (almost like a supper) that way she's happy at 5 but also gets the family meal time experience

Yeah I have tried to keep him happy til then with bits but he is so impatient lol. Guess he will be eating meals a day behind ours lol

Due to OH's work hours we do our main meal at lunch time so we can all sit and eat together.

i use aslow cooker for some meals that way at 5pm you can take babys meal out and yours will be ready when OH gets home from work. works really well with stews, chicken, beef and pork joints also bolagnase, chilli and curry cook well. just need to add potatos/rice/pasta to it and you have a full meal.

xx
