Famous Names

Hi all!

Just wondering - what people think of famous/celebrity names? I like Scarlet but worry that, due to Scarlet Johanson, everyone will think she is named after her!!

I know that if I like a name I should use it no matter what other peoples opinions and I will - just interested in opinions really. Or experiences?

2 girls I know have recently named their babies Scarlet but I didn't even think of the famous thing. It is a beautiful name - go for it!

Ah, we are on the same page! I too would think of Scarlett O'Hara, wouldn't even think of Johannsen. But actually it's a very popular name so I think most people would make any kind of "famous" association from it.

But I must admit I do worry about this sort of thing as one of my fave names for a girl is Camilla, but I didn't pick it for my daughter due to the association with Camilla Parker-Bowles. Wouldn't make such a strong association with Scarlett though.

Scarlet Johansen wouldn't spring to my mind, but she is stunning anyway so I wouldn't mind having the same name as her anyway lol. xx

Scarlet is so popular in itself that no one really makes an asociation with anyone famous, i know i dont i jsut think oh i know 5 scarlets or 13 lily's etc etc.

now if it were a not so popular name of someone stupidly famous then yeah i would make an association i think. Like i like the name Suri but i wont use it because of Suri Cruise, the same with the name Shiloh. xx

But it never reminds me of anyone famous, more of the colour red...
Not many people like the name Cadence, but me + OH do so that's all that matters xx

I adore the name Scarlett but there are already 2 Scarletts in the family

I can't say I thought of Scarlett Johansen or Scarlett O'hara when they were born! It's a pretty popular name these days, I don't think you'll have a problem with celebrity association!

I wouldnt have associated it with either of them. Its a lovely name, like someone said, if anything it would remind me more of the colour, but that didnt even come to mind straight away!

I think it depends on the name -- if it's very unique like Suri...... or the name of someone famous who is currently very popular like Angelina...... or a trendy name bc of a super popular movie like Bella...... then i would say to avoid the name....

But Scarlett is a fairly well known name & is gaining in popularity among new moms... so... i don't think it's associated strongly with anyone famous

Thanks, I really like it. Just worried about him getting Lenny as a nicname, which I don't like.

Thanks ladies!! Very much appreciated! We have a list of quite a few names so nothing is decided yet.

Diva - I would not associate Lennox with the Lewis, its a fab name and nn Lenny is so cute!

Katey - I love Cadence!!!!! Its different but also quite traditional - if that makes sense!!!

we called her Kaydee instead, we were going to have the spelling cady but oh used to decide that he didnt want that spelling.
i love the fact that its a name within itself so i wouldnt get weird looks for calling my child a name that is classed as a nn and nothing else. xx
