The farleys rusks state from 4 months on the packet.
I am starting to wean at about 6 months and wondered about these as there is wheat and gluten in them.
Can anyone advice please?
Thanks

Personally, I am avoiding rusks altogether. As you said, they have wheat and gluten in them, both of which should be avoided until 6 months (even though it says 4 on the packet). Most of them have lots of sugar in too, unless you buy the reduced sugar ones. I started my little boy (he is actually nearly 5 months, my ticker has never been right) on baby porridge, although the consistancy is like wallpaper paste  which he only had once, then he went onto the Ellas kitchen first tastes which are just one flavour i.e. apple or banana, now he has the ones with 2 flavours

Hope this helps :hugs:

Lots of babyfood says 4-6 months, this is because in 1994 the DoH changed the solid food introduction age recommendation from 3 months to 4 months, and a law was passed to prevent manufacturers from advertising their foods for babies under 4 months. In 2003 the recommended age was changed to 6 months, but the law is still the same for manufacturers so they are still allowed to advertise their products for 4-6 month olds......until the law is changed they're free to advertise it as being 'suitable from 4 months' :/

rusks are mostly sugar anyway, i don't see the problem if it's part of a varied diet after the 6 month mark but personally i'd make it a once a week thing as something for LO to hold onto and maybe have a suck on, not as a food i really want him getting properly stuck into!

Thanks ladies. I had bought the reduced sugar ones.
I wont give him them until at least 6 months then and like you say as an occasional treat.
I have baby rice and baby porridge and also a Annabelle Karmel book with lots of lovely recepies to make myself :)

I was told by our hv no rusks till at least 6 months due to the gluten xx

i give rusk mixed with milk to lo to get extra formula in him if i feel he has not drunk enough. makes a great snack for him!
