I was told yesterday I failed my 1 hour gtt test and had to do the 2 hour one today. I don't have all the numbers yet but I do know my fasting number was 4.5 (or maybe 4.2? I was pretty hungry at the time... Haha!)

I can't seem to find any info if that seems ok or not. The tech said it was not too low or too high for me to still get the glucose drink.

What do you think? Does that seem high or can you even tell anything from just that number? I won't find out the results until next week at my appt. Or Friday if it's bad.

Thanks!

Your fasting number was 4.5? Is that your A1c number?

I'm not sure. I don't know what A1c is. It was my number after fasting almost 12 hours.

It sounds like it's your A1c. And that number pretty much determines diabetes. I'm diabetic and my A1c is 6.4, which is pretty good. 4.5 isn't diabetic or even prediabetic

Ok, doing a little research and it seems that 4.5 isn't from an a1c test. It is my blood glucose reading measured in mmol/L instead of mg/dl. According to the conversion chart I just found 4.5 is equal to 80.

Hopefully it is still good :)

A fasting reading of 4.5mmol/l is normal. I have GD and am supposed to get under 5.2mmol/l before breakfast but it rarely is that low. I did have fasting numbers in the 4's up until 32-33 weeks, at my GTT test I failed the 1 hr level.

Thank you. :)

I hope everything comes back good when I get the final results. I'm just nervous because it took them 3 weeks to let me know my 1 hour test came back bad! I just worry about baby.

Yes 4.5 is very normal fasting level.

I had GD 3 x and only in the last pregnancy did I struggle with my fasting number - it had to be under 6 in the mornings.

Not any more  baby 3 is out now.

I am eating a lot of biscuits!

On the plus side I had GD with baby 3 but I was fine to go to 41 weeks and had a very healthy 7lb 1oz baby. So it shows even when you have it, with good control everything can work out fine :flower:

Haha! Congratulations!

If it turns out I do have it then I'll be good and eat right and then when baby comes I'll eat a bucket full of chocolate! Haha!

If that equals 80, its fine! They want fasting under 90 or 95 depending on your doctor. Looks like you are in the clear! Hopefully you will hear the same news.

Thank you :) I will try to call my doctor today to see if they got the results yet.

Good luck! I am diabetic all the time and it can be really tough. Especially when pregnant, I had some issues but not from the diabetes, I kept great control and had a healthy baby boy.

Thank you :)

I can't imagine having to deal with diabetes all the time. I'm sorry :(

I'm currently trying to reverse it (it's possible!) I've completely stopped eating all wheat and grains. It's been 2 weeks and my insulin has already been cut down 90%! (And I lost 4lbs in the first week! Not even exercising)

Wow! Good luck! I hope you can reverse it. :)

I don't eat any wheat at all, I'm gluten intolerant. When I gave it up I lost weight pretty quickly too. But, for me it could have just been the bloat that went away. I don't remember weighing myself. I do still eat other grains though. Are you eating a paleo diet?
