Hi all

i have this really silly fear of going overdue (i am 31 weeks today!) so i have plenty of time but cant get this fear ou of my head. I think the fear comes from some one my boyfriend works with lost her little girl @ 41 weeks. After our previous loss with Harry i was so releived to make it to 20 weeks, then to make 24, 28 etc now i have this fear of going overdue.

is there anything that i can do to help the process!! are you girls planning on doing anything to help labourer along!!

hi i tried everythin when i was pregnant with my first daughter eatin pineapple, long walks, hot curry, hot baths, sex etc and i still went 4 days over its the worse thing ever to be overdue but in my experience nothin was budgin her she just came wen she was ready i do think the long walk may have kicked started it tho as i walked for miles on the sunday and then waters broke the day after cud just be coinsidence tho. Im sure u r feelin really ancious because of ur previous loss but im sure u will just fine xxx

Maybe speak to your midwife or consultant about an induction? Thats what I am going to do as i desperatley want to be monitored constantly and to have a heartbeat monitor strapped to me as soon as I get to hospital :hugs:.

(((Hug))) Pregnancy loss can really happen anytime :( That being said, the due date is called "estimated" for a reason..It's perfectly normal to give birth +/- 2 weeks around your due date, and technically you're not overdue until after 42 weeks. They don't say this anymore (induction and c-section, if pre-planned, are very doctor-friendly but not so much mom and child-friendly). I have a friend who gave birth at almost 43 weeks (her 6th live child) at home without complication. I understand, by the time the end of the pregnancy looms around, all we want to do is stop being pregnant, but it's really not wise to ask for induction "just because" (or worse, c-section). If there is a valid need/emergency, these procedures are awesome life-savers, but they're not without complication by any means and doctors often forget to tell us all the small letters from the papers that we sign when we agree to a procedure. I've been through an unnecesary "just because" induction and an unnecesary c-section and compared to those, waiting a few more days to allow the baby to be born on his/her own timetable doesn't sound scary anymore. Pregnancy loss is really frightening but it can happen at any time, whether we're "over" due or not, and unfortunately there's risk involved for the baby's life with induction/c-sec as well, so the good outcome is never guaranteed :( which is just horrible...I still believe, if the baby's healthy, s/he'll come on his own time, when it's best, and if something's wrong, then of course get the baby out safely asap..but not without good reason..(((hug))) Staying active usually helps moving things along!!!!

I wish I could help hun, I haven't had a late loss (lost my little beanie just before 12weeks on 16th November 07) but I am very terrified of something going wrong if I go overdue. I keep googling stories which really doesn't help either.

I'm going to speak to my MW - I know they won't induce me just because but I might ask for careful monitoring if I go over 40.

xxx

thanks everyone..

i dont think i am going to be asked to be induced as i would like it to happen naturally but think will speak to MW and maybe see about having a sweep booked for due date and see if i can be closely monitored if i do go over.

I really wish things where simple and i was once again oblivious to worrying about problems or things that can go wrong (i hope that doesnt sound bad!!) Just feeling sorry for myself cus i want little one here so i know she is safe!!

xx
