Hi ladies,
Been a long time ..I am writing this query on behalf of my sister. Her baby girl was born at 35-36 weeks at 2.5 kg. Baby is almost 5 weeks old now and doc is very happy with her weight gain (around 3.7 Kg I think now).
For the last three weeks, she has been having very long feeding sessions lasting for 2 to 3 hours only to take few minutes breaks. Sometimes all night as well. It does not seem like a growth spurt as this has been the case for three weeks now. Is this normal? Sometimes it seems she is just sucking and not really feeding. My sis did have a thrush episode few days back which has completely cleared up now. While I do have experience with cluster feeding and growth spurts of my own LO but I can't remember having such long spells of it. And my LO was born at 41 weeks so I do not have much perspective from a premie baby point of view. Sis is beyond tired and I hope to offer her some useful advice if possible. Any advice and info is appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have preemie experience but I can tell you that that behavior is very normal for some breastfed newborns. My LO did the same. It's tough but it should pass soon.
