Daniel feeds every 3 hours, apart from one stint in the evening when he's asleep and can go 5 hours. He's averaging 6 feeds a day, sometimes 7 and takes 4.5 - 5 oz per feed. He's putting weight on great, but is he having too much? The guide on the box recommends 5 feeds a day which he has never done. Should he have the hungry baby milk instead (we use aptamil) we are also having real problems with sleep at the moment - he doesn't tend to nap and is unsettled from about 4am, could it be he is not full up?(he does spit up sometimes after his bottle, usually if he's had all 5oz.)

those of you that use hungry baby milk, what made you decide to do it? How is it different to stage 1 milk?

Thanks

My LO feeds 4 oz every 3 hours, going 4-6 hours at night. If baby is happy then I don't see a problem. It does say on the tin that some babies need more or less than others.

my LO is 3 months now and she wanted milk about every 3 hours so i switched to the hungrier baby milk but it didn't make a difference she still wants it every 3 hours unless she's asleep. you could give the hungrier baby milk a try though it might work and if it doesn't you could always switch back to regular. i have noticed she sleeps a bit longer during the night but i don't know if thats because of the milk or just because she's older. The hungry baby milk is slightly thicker i think it's suppose to be more filling but my daughters just greedy lol

i switched to aptimil hungry baby milk at 6 weeks and it made my lo very unsettled at night so switched back to normal. ended up trying the hungry baby milk again at 4 months and it worked a treat. think he was just a bit too young for it at first x

Thanks, we are going to stick with normal milk and try and use other techniques to get him to nap during the day. We have also upped him to 6oz so we can be sure he is getting enough at feeds.

Kacey6 didnt take just 5 feeds a day till she was older than your LO. Before that she always had more. Its only a guide. She was on 6oz a feed at 7 weeks. Hungry baby milk is meant to be used when baby is down 8-9oz a feed and isnt satisfied. Cant be to much for little tummys. kacey went onto hungry baby milk at 12 weeks and it made no difference to her feeds

Abi has only recently started going longer than 3 hours, and she still has 6 feeds a day and shes 5 months, we've just started weaning her which is why i think shes going a bit longer now.
