Feel bad for eating instant noodles

I feel bad as my lunch just consisted of instant noodles and my breakfast was jam (jelly if you are from America) on toast and a cup of tea. I am drinking juice or lemonade as my drinks as i can't stomach water or milk. I snack on muesli bars or crackers.

I just feel bad as my poor baby needs nutrients. I am taking a prenatal but i still feel guilty. Is anyone else in this situation? My sickness was never this bad with my DS

Okay now!!! LOL!! Jam and Jelly are not the same thing in the US. LOL!! We have jam too, that is NOT jelly!! LOL! I do love both! So my question is, is your jam really jelly or jam??:haha:

Lol i'm confused now. But it is made the stuff you spread on your toast out of a jar or put in a pb and j sandwich. What is jam in America?

I'm going to try to get this straight, as I often confuse the two. In America Jelly is basically smoothe, there's no fruit in it. Jam, while it serves the same purpose, has chunks of fruit in it. Both are great on pb + j sandwiches though. :)

Ok well i think what i had was definately jelly lol as it was smooth

Don't worry yourself, the baby will get everything it needs from your body, whether or not you are getting enough for YOURSELF or not. It will take everything that it needs from YOUR supply, literally sap the calcium out of your bones if it needs to so don't worry yourself about the bean, it is fine. A balanced diet is really just the most important for your own health, bubs is getting everything it needs don't worry!! :hugs:

I have been worried because I'm also able to eat next to nothing. A bowl of cereal and plain noodles are a GOOD day for me right now! What has helped me the most was that my doctor told me the growing baby will take whatever nutrients it needs from my body as it grows, and a book I read said:

"Just remember that it wasn't all that long ago that we were all living in caves, eating dirt and getting chased by wild animals."

I've been having a hard tirme too, actually got really sick last week and couldn't keep anything down. I lost 7lbs, but i'm trying to find ways around it and i put back on a few. Keep taking your prenatal, it will be ok.

For me, I've been doing good with an egg and eggwhites with some butter to brown them, like an omelet, on a roll or toast. I let it brown and makeit thin so it's not mushy. Also, fennel tea has always helped my stomach and now it's helping my nausea. Make it good at sweet with honey or sugar, it will be easier to get down. You could even put some lemon in it if you want. Before you go on a fennel binge, though, check out the cafffeine levels. I only have a cup or so a night, so i haven't checked it out.d. Should help to keep things moving, iykwim, too!

eat whatever your body can handle,i am sure the baby will be healthy :D
My friend three years ago had such a bad first trimester she had to go to hospital as she could only keep down one carrot and a piece of cheese pizza per day as she was throwing up from three weeks right through until her second trimester and the baby boy is now 3 years old and really healthy.

you should not feel bad
I had kfc for lunch :D :D
I am craving junk food and dairy food like yoghurt, cheese and sour cream so i eat it :D

My diet is pretty similar, except add in sausage rolls and packets of crisps! I used to have a really healthy diet, but I can't stomach much now. I'd rather eat something than throw up. Last pregnancy, I had hyperemesis and literally couldn't keep anything down. The doctor wasn't concerned about the lack of nutrition as he said the store my body had would see me through (lack of fluid was another matter...)

I gave birth to a very healthy 8lb 7oz baby, so I'm sure he was right. Our bodies are amazing things and I think we just have to trust that what we fancy and can keep down is going to be ok. Hopefully by second tri we can return to a more balanced diet! Hope you're feeling better soon.

I sometimes crave noodles... But I make sure I eat something healthy along with it

I wish i only craved them as it would be easier to resist eating them but it is one of the few things i can stomach at the mo

It is amazing what stores our bodies must have. I ate pretty healthy before pregnancy so am hoping i have a decent amount of nutrition stored away for my little bean

My doc said not to worry about it. I'm getting in only plain carbs right now-- toast, toast... more toast...

I was told that at this stage as long as I'm taking the prenatal vitamin, not to worry. the baby needs far less from us than we think.

My mother said she only ate saltine crackers and gingerale with my sister, who has grown up to be very smart, capable and healthy :)

Hey hun
i just wrote on another thread about this! the sickness is the worst, im 35 weeks and iv had it really badly throughout- throwing up at least 8 times a day most days for the ENTIRE time! I literally cant remember what life was like not being sick, and not having to carry sick bags everywhere.I have worried massively throughout about the effect this could have had on our little girl- im honestly lucky if i keep about one meal down a day. In first and secomd tri i was told many times that the baby will take what it needs from you, ur the one that will suffer, and that made me feel a bit better, but in third tri ur meant to get an extra 300 cals a day, and im definitely not getting that much.

Anyhow, my point is that oour little girl has measured perfectly (if not on the large side) at every scan. We had a 4d scan 2 weeks ago and she measured perfectly, the sonographer said everything looked fantastic and commented on how active she is. I feel so much better since that scan, and though i obviously still worry some days (yesyterday i barely kept anything down) i do feel better and less guilty.

I didnt find anything that helps with the sickness, but i have been drinking as many nutrition shakes a day as i can. Complan for example, or even slim fast or a regular protein shake. I really think thats why she's grown so well. I make up one using double the recommend amount of powder, then sip it slowly. I think u said ur off dairy though, could u try soya milk or even oat milk (u can get it in most big supermarkets). Or some protein shakes u can make up with water, though alot of protein shakes taste awful. Also, on the odd occasion i feel ok i try to make the most of it and eat a massive bag of cashew nuts or almonds.

But dont beat urself up- people always say to me i should just foce some food down, but if i did that id throw up anything id already eaten and managed to keep down. Just eat what u can when u can, but try to supplement it with vitamins and, if u can stomach them, nutrition shakes. But if u do get worried its always worth talking to ur dr- they cant do much but it may reassure u a bit. feel better xx

And ps, to echo what Tacey said- the drs have never been concerned about the lack of nutrition. It amazes me at every scan what our bodies are capable of. Even with all that sickness my body has grown a little person-its incredible. But fluids are another matter, u do need to watch that. xx
