Hi,

This is my first post here or anywhere about this, but I was hoping to find people to talk to. My husband and I decided to try and I am a bit overwhelmed with everything. :)
So here is how it is gone, any advice would be welcome...

So my cycle is completely erratic so I went to my doc in July. She put me on Nuvaring for three months to try to "trick my body" into being normal...I made it two months on it after giving up. ...I had a three week period took it out and it finally stopped. A few days after that it started again but stopped after a few days (thank goodness!). When I went back to my doctor she also put me on metformin--saying it would normalize my cycle. this was at the end of August. Right now I am CD 40 (I think i said that right?) and no sign of AF. A couple weeks after I started the metformin I have been really nauseated...have taken a *few* too many hpt and they have all been bfn.
Has anyone had an experience like this? And before I get the advice to go to my doc...she is out of town this month and I emailed her...but she hasn't yet responded. Looking for a new doc...but would love some advice or just someone to talk to. I have been googling a bit too much and perhaps imagining other early pregnancy signs. I feel like it is all in my head!

Nice to "meet" you all,
Anna

Metformin is notorious for giving nausea as a side effect and is usually prescribed to those with polycystic ovaries, have you been diagnosed with that?

No, I haven't been diagnosed with that. I did read about metformin and don't really understand why my doc prescribed it. I also do not have any issues with blood sugar.

Thats odd then, i suggest getting a second opinion from a different doctor?

Yeah, I will do that... I just am nervous about that because I don't want to feel like a crazy person. The whole thing was weird, but honestly I don't even know what kind of doctor to go to right now. My insurance just completely changed, and the person I see now is out of network anyway (I can still see her it just costs me more). She is my primary care but specializes in women's health. So kind of a two in one thing which is nice :) I can't find that option in the new network thing. I feel like it really isn't right to go to primary care doctor for this. But am hesitant to go to a gyno because I don't even have a primary care doctor in their system yet, you know? I may just be over thinking this...but it is just not an area I have experience in.

I am in the UK so I have no experience with insurances and such x sorry hun x

LoL, you are really lucky then. It is really annoying and can get complicated quickly. :)

Hi, I was the same. After having a normal cycle through my teens, came off bcp- on for 9 years... Periods got further and further apart, till eventually stopped for 6 mnth! docs didn't know why, blood tests came back normal. After 12mnth went to see fertility specialist, the scan showed poly cystic ovaries- although still waiting for some other results back so not officially diagnosed. I was only very slightly overweight, didnt have any other symptoms. Anyways started doing a lot of research n have cut out sugar n carbs, doing something similar to atkins, lost a stone, started taking inositol supplement. Periods have started coming back on their own for last few months. You don't have to have high blood sugar to have pcos, my blood sugar is also normal- it's the body overcompensating for a diet high in sugars that it starts churning out more n more insulin to keep the blood sugars in normal range. I would push for more tests n start cutting out the bad carbs from your diet to see if it helps.

Thank you for the advice. I will push for more tests to see what is going on, and cut back on the sugar. My diet really isn't terrible, but cutting back on sugar is never really a bad thing! My periods have never been normal, but it has never been that big of a concern until now--actually more a relief because who really wants to deal with that every month? ;-) I just made an appointment with a new doctor so we shall see how that goes.
I am glad that it is working for you! Good luck!!

Metformane is given to type two diabetics also so that would be why if you have sugar levels higher than normal and it really does help the sugar levels I'm type one and tried it and it did help but made me very sick so I just stick to my insulin I've heard a lot about people getting bfps from using it
Blood sugar plays around with so much in your body first month having good levels I got preg after two years of trying sadly was mmc but my bloods were way outta control months before then
