Feel free to ignore this, I just need to whine!

We're in NZ and were at the epicentre of the large earthquake early on Sat morning, suffice to say it was bloody scary and not fun at all.
We ended up on our front lawn at 4.30 am in -3 watching the house shake like a leaf.

I had BH all day and called the m/w who said to rest and relax as best I could. They have come and gone and are now a lot less hurty.

The after shocks are still going strong and I'm getting fed up of feeling stressed and on edge all the time. They have told us to expect another big after shock of about magnitude 6 anytime

I just want the BH to stop, the cramps to stop and the bloody aftershocks to stop shaking my house!

Ive spoken to my m/w and the BH/cramps are all stress related, but how do I not feel stressed?

im not surprised yr feeling stressed !!! we had a small trmour here last year and i woke up to feel the earth shake a bit for just a few seconds and i was bloody terrified !!! how strong are the aftershocks are they shaking the whole house? hope yr house is ok not too much damage !!
i dont know how long aftershocks last for but just try and remember the worst is over i know thats hard to do but remember you and baby are most important and at least you know whats causing yr bh/'s
x x x x

aww it must be so scary for you, my brother in law is from christchurch so i've heard a bit of what his family are going through. Big :hugs: for you x

Awwww am so sorry to hear you are going though this, sending you :hugs: x

Oh I'm sorry, not nice for you. I guess you just need to try and force yourself to relax. Try and find a spot somewhere where you feel safe, if that exists, maybe in your DH's arms so you feel like he's protecting you and try to forget about what is going on and read a book or something to take your mind off it. Even for just a short time, it should help a tiny bit. Really hope the aftershocks stop soon

Sending you :hugs: sweetie I have a friend who lives in Christchurch and shes just gone past her due date and I know how scared and panicky she has been. Thank god she didn't go into labour when the earthquake hit.

I do hope the aftershocks stop soon so you can calm down and start to relax again. x

awww no wonder you are stressed hun. just take it easy, it will all be over soon, sending big :hugs:

Thank you all :flow:

The aftershocks are mostly about magnitude 4.5-5.2 ish, so strong enough to bring books off shelves and knock over stuff but not anyhting like the original quake

I actually managed to sleep through most of the aftershocks last night, the only one that woke me was a 5. something early this morning - feeling a lot better for a reasonable nights sleep!

We also had a builder round last night to assess the damage and he thinks our house is fine, a few cracks internally that need plaster and re-painting and a crack in the chimney that should be fine as long as we don't get to many bigger aftershocks. If we do it might come down but its at the end of the house and will fall outward so not actually dangerous to us.
Our woodburner is also cracked internally but still usable (thank god as its our only source of heating!)
