Hey ladies,

So the best day of my life was Friday, January 24th. I brought my beautiful baby boy into the world. We had to do a planned c-section, so I didn't labor actively. I have been breast feeding every 2 hours or less since 11am Friday morning. I saw a lactation specialist and we perfected our form together and his latch and jaw are great! But, here I am, Sunday night, and still no milk. Not even full breasts. I am getting raw and my contractions are pretty severe when I nurse, but no sign of milk. Everyone says "just keep feeding" and I am, I won't give up, but it's so painful and frustrating at this point. He is starting to get a little yellow and I'm afraid he's dehydrating. I'm feeding all I can, any words of comfort or wisdom? Where is my milk?!?

I've heard 3-4 days is normal. Keep at it. Mine came in late on the third day, but i did deliver vaginally, so i guess take that into account.

My son developed mild jaundice on that third day, but i was told not to worry. they just checked him the next day at the hospital to make sure it was getting better, not worse, once he began feeding regularly (we had other nursing issues... hard time latching). keep a close watch on his diapers to make sure he is urinating regularly. The yellow color in his skin should fade soon, but if you are truly concerned, see a doctor. mother knows best.

My milk came in on day three but it wasn't until like day 7 that they actually got hard..mine stayed pretty soft just a little heavier than normal until day 7. Just feed baby on demand and drink plenty of water and fluids in general. The jaundice will go away if it seems to get worse then by all means call the doc. Keep watch over how many poopy and wet diapers he produces 8-12 in 24hrs is good. If you can open the window and let baby soak in the sunshine for about 10 minutes (not the direct sunshine), that should help with the jaundice too.

3-5 days for a planned section is totally normal as no labour hormones to kick start :) Day of birth is Day 0. I had a planned section and my milk started coming in on Day 2 and fully in Day 3.

Keep up the good work xx

Mine came on day 5 and I had a vaginal delivery. I actually gave a little formula on day 3-4 (like 2 ounces in total) because she had lost 10% and was getting lethargic. She probably would have been fine without it, but it didn't affect my supply at all, and she was fine as soon as my milk came in.

Keep going, you're doing great! All the nursing he's doing will bring it in soon and he needs very little at the moment, just small amounts of colostrum.

use lots of lanoish to help with the nipple pain, let baby get lots of natural light as believe that helps with jaundice.

and dont think my milk came in until end of day 3 more day 4.

I 'Lion Kinged' my wee one out in the back garden when I got him home to get rid of the Jaundice... in dappled sunlight though - under a load of apple trees. TOTALLY worked a dream :)

... keep going with your nursing. I had a drug free natural delivery and my milk came in about day 3/4 too. I didn't get engorged until much later.

My HV told me at the beginning their stomachs are about the size of a pea so they can't take much anyway.

Boobying is hard work to start off with, but it so nice, nearly 7 months later, when I come home from work, to be able to nurse him lying on the sofa watching TV while he bobbles on and off when he wants to :)

No sterilising, no effort... just lots of 'loves'. Most I have to do now is lift my shirt

All the best :)
