Hey all

I am feeling really bad at the mo cos I couldnt bf, it really puts me off having any more babies I dont think I could cope with this again

I also feel like I have failed at the first hurdle at being a mum and should have tryed harder

((hugs)).

I couldnt breast feed my 1st as never produced any milk and for a while I also felt guilty. But I look at her now she will be 5 next week and is happy and healthy.

My 2nd is due in 6 weeks and I want to BF but will not beat myself up if it happens again.

At the end of the day as baby is getting fed thats the main thing.

Nah not feeding your kid would be failing. However your baby is fed as long as he knows his needs will be met and mummy loves him he doesn't really care about the rest.

My breastfed babe is just as loved as my formula fed one.

No matter how hard you try someone will say you should have tried harder. Don't borrow trouble it won't help. Love your baby. In the end that's what's important.

Don't sell yourself short.

I didnt have milk to BF. I didnt feel a failure. My LO was starved at the hospital for 18 hrs as they wanted him to BF, but it didnt work. I ended up with a jaundiced, screaming baby. So I decided to formula feed & never looked back. He's happy & thriving & this is what's important. When I have my second, I will give bfing a try, but if it doesnt work I will go with the flow. They grow up very fast & spending time with feeling bad about things we dont have control over is a waste. Enjoy ur time with ur LO, cherish the 1st mnths, they never come back hun. I was miserable for 2 mnths for having a traumatic birth & I dont remember those 1st mnths. I regret spending time on being miserable instead of spending it enjoying my LO. xx

Please don't feel like a failure. You made, carried and gave birth to a beautiful bouncing baby - how can that make you a failure? You were amazing! I have so been there, as have so many other ladies on this site. All I can say is that whilst it seems so huge right now very soon, as you see your LO grow and thrive, not BF'ing becomes less and less important and you do start to feel so much better about the whole thing. You tried, that's all anyone can do. Enjoy your baby, I wasted the first few weeks with my LO being depressed about not BF'ing and sobbing hysterically over a breast pump. Please don't let the same thing happen to you! :hugs:

hun you know i couldnt BF DD2 but managed with DD3 but i still had to stop for a while. you havent let him or yourself down. you did what you needed to do. if you were unhappy and stressed all the time that wouldnt be doing him any good at all. chin up chuck you are doing fabby xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I can't really add to what the others have said :hugs: But you are NOT a failure, you obviously love your baby so much, and that's way more important overall than how he is fed :hugs:

You are not a failure hun, not at all! You tried and you are doing what you can to feed your baby :) Breastfeeding isn't easy, not all mums can do it, or have enough milk etc... but you tried and that is great! You are doing a wonderful job and it shows how much you do love your LO :) Your baby will grow and thrive and you will begin to feel better soon... but remember, you didn't fail! xx

aww hun i couldnt BF either....Ollie jsut got in too much of a state n wouldnt latch on properly...ive tried to fight off these feelings by knowing that at least im enjoying my baby now...i love looking at every inch of his little face when im feeding him, when i was BF i would literally be in tears when he was stirring coz i knew it meant the pain of BFing...i dreaded him being awake whereas now i look forward to seeing himj stretching away coming to himself...his 1st ever feed was breast milk so thats what i focus on...you tried hun thats the main thing it doesnt make you a failure at all...some babies just wont latch...please dont feel sad hun, you're still giving your boy a full tummy :) xx

Don't worry hun as long as LO's being fed thats all that matters :0)

You're better than me, i never even tried this time x i tried once for 12 hours and it just wasn't for me x all 5 of mine were/are formula fed x

My dolly would slurp her milk through a paper bag if she could :0) as long as she is getting it she is happy :0)
