We have been ttc for 2 1/2 years... I have low progesterone which they treated for about a year I had one pregnancy that ended in MC... that was almost a year ago... now they have found fibroids... I had surgery a couple days ago with a hysterogram/myosure through the cervix however they were not able to get the fibroid but removed 2 polyps ... I am now healing from that however now they are saying the fibroid has to be removed laparoscopic ally through my abdomen... and if I do ever get pregnant I HAVE to have a C-section... who would have thought I had to have 2 surgeries just to have a chance to get prego and carry full term

... anyone have to go through something similar??

I'm sorry to hear about your challenges. Try to keep thinking positively. How big is the fibroid and where is it located?

I experienced something similar, but not exact. We had been trying to conceive for almost a year before I had my myosure procedure. My OB/GYN knew I had a fibroid on my fundus and polyps inside my uterus after an ultrasound and HSG. We just didn't know how bad until my procedure. We were told that the polyps had filled my uterus to the point that we never would have gotten pregnant. They couldn't do anything about the fibroid since it is in the muscle wall. I also have an arcuate shaped uterus which can increase my chance of miscarriage. We had to wait three months to start trying again. Once we did, it was 5 more months until I got my first BFP. I miscarried a couple days later :( We have moved on to a fertility specialist now, and still no luck. We keep elevating treatment with each failure.

I know it's hard, but we all just have to try and be patient and do everything we can to move towards our dream

I'm sorry you're both going through this. I just had a hysteroscopic polypectomy yesterday and recovering now. I guess sometimes depending on the size and location of the fibroid, they don't always have to take them out? I've ready that women can have successful pregnancies with fibroids.

Bee, can you ask about what your chances of conceiving and carrying a pregnancy to term might be if you leave the fibroid alone now that the polyps are out? I hope you don't have to go through another surgery, but I guess if that's what it takes to get and stay pregnant it's worth it!

Thanks for the responses and encouragement! My fibroid is the size of a baseball, I have no idea how large my polyps were, I really would like to talk to my doctor however I've called two days in row and they said she would call me back at the end of the day. Before the surgery I didn't even know I had polyps and they believed the fibroid was in the cervix... now they are saying I need a laparoscopic myomectomy.. time will tell.

I am sorry you are going through this. I had 14 fibroids removed abdominaly after a failed laparoscopic myomectomy. I got pregnant with my son 8 months later and delivered him with a c-section. Two years later they found new fibroids (yay! lucky me) during an HSG before I was supposed to start more fertility treatments. They are many and small but located where they aren't interfering with anything. I am actually 7 months pregnant now and my "new" fibroids are stable.

Having the myomectomy is a hard road, but worth it. It is amazing what they can do surgically these days. I wish you all the best!
