I'm guessing lots of families feel the way I am right now, but I'm really struggling. My son is 3 and has been having tests since birth to find out if he does or doesn't have a degenerative, genetic condition. On the outside, he is absolutely 'normal' looking (whatever that might be!) but his behaviour suggests something is not right. He's tube fed too and can't control his temperature. He's extremely aggressive.
We go to a sen playgroup once a week, but I hate it because every time I go, someone asks why we are there because he just looks like he doesn't belong- the rest of the children have an obvious need but mine doesn't!
I don't feel able to go to normal playgroup or soft play because he's so aggressive and it looks like he's just kicking off for no reason! I got asked to leave a soft play a few weeks ago for pushing which has really knocked my confidence.

He's had a million tests, and he's having a lumbar puncture on Monday to determine why his behaviour is so bad.... But the general public don't see or understand that.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

I can totally understand the behaviour side of things my 4 1/2 year olds not long diagnosed with autism which you don't see just to look at him it's much more about his behaviours. Now he's at nursery we don't go to play group but I hated it also and forced myself there for him. It was like a group of snobs looking down there nose but as long as he enjoyed it that's all I cared about. Don't let them push you and your son out with there questions and I would say to them whilst it might not appear there's anything going on with my son I can assure you there is we just don't no what that is yet he's still undergoing tests.
It's been a huge help since we moved our son to a specialist nursery for asd children and he really enjoys going there. He gets a weekly trip park shops feed ducks ect and since then his behaviour in shops and that has improved it used to be a real nightmare at shops but now he can go without all hell breaking lose xxx
