I have to admit after all i have had to have done, smears, scans, sti checks, blood tests, and HSG all in the last month, i never thought i would be saying i felt sorry for my hubby when he had to do his sperm sample.

Thing is he never grumbled, he just got on with it, i was glad i didnt have a hubby who either had to be forced into it or simply refused. I was lucky that he went to do it without a gripe. So now i feel i have to make comment about his experience, as i am a little amazed at how little consideration the fertility clinic i use took over my husbands investigations when they take such care over mine.
I also wondered if anyones elses hubbies have mentioned anything about their experiences that match this?

Firstly, my husband said the room he had to use to give his sample was just off a fairly heavily used corridor, so he could hear everyone going passed which doesnt help a mans concentration.
Secondly, the room was fairly grubby, i mean you wouldnt expect top of the range accomodation but i would have tought the room would have been fairly comfortable, would not have wholes in chairs and bedding and worn carpet on the floor. I mean surely for its purpose i would have thought the floor should have been tiled and certainly not carpet?
Thirdly, the magazines where "heavily pawed" and most were years and years old. He didnt expect a plasma tv on the wall but a magazine from this century would have been nice.

Anyway, my fella got on with it without problem but i wonder how he did considering hte circumstances and i feel now for all the men who have to go perform in such grubby conditions. We all have a whine about what we have to go through and i never gave a thought about what my hubby would have to do. It may not be painful but i bet it was difficult and slightly embarrasing.

Anyone else heard anything like this.....

My husband said the room he went into was really nice. He said there were a bunch of magazines but didn't tell me how new they were. He also said there was a TV with some videos. He swears he didn't use any of it. Haha! I told him that would have been the perfect time to do it without me being mad. : )

The room my DH used was quite nice. It was off a waiting room that had a lock on the door. So I waited in the waiting room, while he did what he had to do. We were there really early in the morning, so there were no interruptions. He could only have had a better experience if I'd done it for him

My DH said that in the room before him was a huge, overweight and sweaty man who came out wiping his hands on a tissue and had left a PUBE on the magazine he had left open.

Clearly, those at the hospital did not think to put this magazine away before DH went in there. How vile?

Oh no, ur poor OH! How off-putting!!

My DH has now done 3 S.A, poor thing. The first had to be done in a public toilet - yes, a cubicle in the lab toilets. Luckily it was very early so there was no-one around but I wouldn't have blamed him if he hadn't managed at all that day!!

The 2nd time, we complained that there was nowhere private, and we were lead half way round the hospital to the MATERNITY WARD!! :dohh: It was a little room just before you opened the door to the maternity ward (which was of course locked in case crazy people like me tried to steal a newborn!)

No mention of magazines, DVDs etc, just DH'S imagination.........
