Femara success?? Please help!

I am going to be starting Femara in June and I can't find anything (that's not from 2008-2010) about its success and side effects.
I was in clomid (50mg cd3-7) and it made me feel really dizzy. I'd take it at night and wake up with what I would call the clomid hang over, and by noon I'd be so dizzy I'd feel like I was going to drop. So my doc is giving me femara this cycle and I was hoping to find some Mommas who've had success with it or are currently taking it, to talk to.

Hi Lauren - I had my BFP with Femara in February!!! Sadly it ended in MC. That was also with IUI. We are also dealing with male factor. Btw, the mc was not caused by the drug at all.

I'm currently back on the femara. I'm taking 2.5mg for 10 days. It usually gives me at least 2 follies.

Side effects: moodiness, emotional, mean mean mean headaches, slight cramping in the beginnning. All the side effects are bearable. Luckily, I've never had to stay home for any of them.

Any other questions, let me know. Join our thread at Femara Friends. Lots of Femara lovers over there. Many of the girls were switched overs from Chlomid to Femara. We've had many successes there and a couple of girls are actually pregnant from Femara.

I took Clomid and I always O on my own so it was given just to increase the Eggies.

Side effects: I have only had really crazy mood swings..
I was on Clomid and took myself off because of the stomach pains and hot flashes from hell. The doctor told me it would be nothing to change back if the mood swings get worse and I whole hardly beleive nothing can be worse than having crazy hot flashes day and night..

This is my first month on Femara 3-7, Femara Friends is a great meet up to get the lastest news on how people on the meds are feeling!

Hi. I did 3 rounds of femara/IUI. Sadly it didn't result in pregnancy. I never had any trouble with ovulating.

My side effects were 10 day headache, decreased libido, depression with pms/ or emotional pms. It also made me feel "blah". I wanted to just lay around on the couch all day. I had no motivation or desire to do much of anything. I preferred clomid, but clomid thinned my lining so we had to go with femara.

I would take femara at night. I had headaches when I took it in the morning but no headaches when I took it at night.

Hi! I did Femara and got my BFP in April. I am now 9 plus 4 weeks pregnant. I have PCOS and don't ovulate on my own. The first dose 2.5 mg which I took CD3-7 didn't result in ovulation so the next cycle they bumped it to 5 mg CD 3-7. I did ovulate but did not conceive. The 2nd 5mg cycle I ended up taking it CD 5-9 due to a business trip I was taking and I needed to push O back a couple of days so that DH and I could try to conceive and that resulted in my BFP. There is a Femara and Friends forum on here which is really useful and the ladies are super nice and helpful!

I had a horrible time on clomid and since taking femara I can say the s/e are nothing compared to clomid. My first cycle of femara I didnt have any s/e. This cycle I had some hot flashes but it only lasted for one night which was on the 3rd day I took the pills. By the 5th day which was my last pill, I had no s/e. I am waiting to ov now.

I did 6 cycles of Clomid and absolutely hated every minute of it - definitely didn't agree with me plus it completely thinned my lining, what a waste! I did one cycle of femera with IUI and got our first BFP in almost 3 years, so I am definitely a believer. I did have mild headaches with femera, but that was about it for side effects. Hth!

Aww, thanks! We had 2 follies that were at 20 and 21 plus two more around 10 and 11. The Dr said the two 20s were ready to go the day we triggered, so I assume it was only 2 that ruptured because the rest were so small.

Im taking a break this month as I just did a year of fertility meds but.....on Clomid I had all the bad side effects and no results so the last few months we switched to Femara.
The 7.5mg dose is what worked for me. I do not ovulate, make eggs or have cycles.
With 7.5 I make about 2 good eggs.
Side effects on this dose were mild headache and loss of libido ;( I take the pills at night so as not to get morning headaches.
Also...My hair was shedding like crazy.
No Bfp yet but im running a 35 or more day cycle--af comes late.

I am on Femera day 3-7 2.5 mg. This is my first month on it. I had headaches for the whole 5 days and was pretty sluggish. I am not being monitored as I do ovulate and my OB is doing this for super ovulation. I have noticed that my ovulation has been pushed back. I am on cd 17 and i usually ovulate on cd 14. I will probably have a positive okp by tomorrow.

congrats Spicy! Did you have any MFI? I only ask because I have been told IUI would only increase my odds slightly and it might not be worth it...I am doing cycle two of femara with timed bding and and HCG trigger!

Thanks ttcbaby! Yes, we did have some MFI; throughout our years of ttc the results were always great counts but low motility and horrible morph (1%). But when we did IUI we only had 4 million post wash with the same poor motility/morph. I seriously cried when I found out and was convinced we were out. I say that to help others not be discouraged from trying IUI if you have issues with male factor!

thanks spicy....I do not have MFI so I am not sure IUI will help us. we will see what the dr recommends.
