Hi ladies,

I had a loss at 12 weeks in January and my cycles haven't returned to normal yet. I'm now cycle 6 and pretty sure I have a lutuel phase defect as af arrives 8-10 days after ov.

My drs won't help until I've been trying for a year even tho I know something is wrong and even then it could take months. So I'm thinking about going privately to meet a fertility expert. Does anyone know how I go about finding one?

Thanks

Where do you live? I see adverts for Hartley Street Fertility Clinic in London on the tube and in newspapers all the time.

https://hsfc.org.uk

They have a price list on their website & adverts I have see say they do a free initial consultation.

Heya,

It makes me really angry how bad some GP's are... I just wrote a similar answer to a lady who was just brushed off by her GP, telling her to wait for a year to get a referral. Honestly, what the heck...

I can see that you are in the UK, so here is the NHS website giving info about what the GP should do>

Irregular cycles is a gyneacological problem and needs investigating, no matter if you are trying for a baby or not. They need to find the underlying cause. As you can see from the website, you should be able to get a blood test, looking for hormone issues (I also got tested for rubella) and an ultrasound to look at your ovaries for any signs of polycystic ovaries.

I got all that when I started ttc, and PCOS was diagnosed. That said, I really hope that there is no underlying issue there and your body just needs a little more time to recover. 6 months is a bit long though... I would try again demanding investigation or change the GP.

Good luck dear! Even with irregular cycles it's very possible to get pregnant and using cheap ovulation tests regularly and/or chart your temps increases the chance to detect/confirm ovulation. Have my fingers and toes crossed for you.:flower:

Thanks kimbra that's really helpful. I agree 6 months with no improvement to my cycles is a long time and makes me think nothing will change without help at this stage.

Ill go back to my drs next week I think xx
