Hello luvlies
Im just making my list of things I need to buy, but have no idea what stuff im going to need for breastfeeding. Can you give me a little list please:) And reccomendations on good brands etc?
OH really wants to feed the Bub too. Can I express the milk into bottles so he can?
Thank you x

Yes you can express your milk so Oh can feed too, think you only really need the breastpump and bottles, and a sterilizer. Unless anyone else knows of more? x

Hi Rach,

The only thing I have needed really are loads of breastpads! The thin ones are the best. Don't buy Nature Baby Care ones, they are pants and leak everywhere!

Oh and lots of muslins. You might want to get some Lansinoh cream too in case of sore nipples to start with.

If you are pumping, you will obviously need a pump (I can't recommend one sorry) and bottles, sterlising equipment, etc.

I use breast shells to collect my milk to let DH feed occasionally https://www.naturalnursery.co.uk/medela-milk-collection-shells-736-p.asp
You can get these from Boots though, they do their own. You could also get some of the plastic storage bags to keep the milk in for the freezer or the fridge.

If I think of anything else, I will post again. x

I'd also get some nipple shields because it may hurt and the shields take some of that pain away.

Thanks Jemima. Muslin sqaures, are they for sick?

Yes, sick and also squirty milk! If you're like me, you'll be firing it out all over the shop and you'll need somewhere to direct the excess other than LO's face!

Try to avoid using nipple shields if you can as they can interfere with the baby's latch, it's better to get someone to help you with your latch. If you're going to pump and give a bottle, you should wait 4-6 weeks to ensure that breastfeeding is established so the baby is less likely to get nipple confusion.
