How did you switch formula brands/types?
My son is on soy formula and I would like to switch him to a different brand.

Any suggestions about how to safely switch one formula for another? I would like to get him off soy all together (dr. thinks he should be fine) but should I maybe wean him to a lactose free formula first instead of going right to a milk based formula?

Any ideas/thoughts??

When we switched Harrison's, we did it over the course of a few days. We mixed the two formulas, and gradually increased the ratio of new formula to old. The first day we only did about 25% new formula, and went from there. Hope that helps!

I would just start replacing one bottle every 2 days until fully switched over x

did you use concentrated formula?
I mix up a can of formula in a glass jug with water. Would I make up 2 cans and mix half and half?

I just went for the straight switch and it was fine xx

that's how we did it - gradually let the new stuff overtake the old stuff.

well, what we did, if we were making, say, 20 oz of water, that's 10 scoops, so you can do x # scoops old and x # scoops of new in the same jug until it's 10 scoops of new a few days later.

When we went from soy to regular, we just did a full switch (mind you this was 8 months, not 2). If soy is upsetting his belly then I'd just do a full switch.

When switching brands I just done a straight switch, when we switched to the not-so-nice tasting stuff done it over a week, a scoop per day.

Are you using Enfamil soy concentrate?

We were advised to do a straight switch & to not draw any conclusions about the new formula until day 3.

We mixed, but would not do two switches. I would choose what you want to go with, then maybe add 1oz to each of his bottles for a day or two, then two ounces, and so on. Thats how we did it, with no tummy upset! Right about 6 months.

Yes we are!

We switched from Enfamil soy concentrate :)sick:) at 8 months, straight onto Similac powdered and it helped his tummy a lot. I almost wonder if his milk allergy was misdiagnosed. Enfamil is like tar, but it was the only thing he kept down as a baby :nope:

Thanks! I received 2 cases of Similac concentrate at my baby shower, plus $50 in coupons, so I would rather use that than spend $$ on Enfamil Soy (which is pretty pricey here!)
