Hi

I will be FF my baby but I am really confused about the new advice re making up bottles.

When I had my son (12 years ago) I used to make up bottles in the morning and store them in the fridge to be warmed up when needed. If I was going out I would pop a bottle in a cool bag and warm up while out.

Now it seems that it is advised to use the ready made cartons while out.... that's fine but what about steralising? What do you do when out? Can I steralise my bottles, put the teets and lids on, leaving them empty, then poor the ready made formula in when I am ready???? Will the bottle stay steralised

Any help would be great, thanks in advance x

Yes!! I though sterilise the bottles then add cooled boiled water and take out like that. I put the milk in little pots that i got from asda and then just add to the water when i need it and warm it up.

Yes, that's the way I did it :)

I take a carton out, and an empty sterile bottle and just pour it in when needed.

Or, you could take a flask of water at 70 degrees or hotter, (to kill the bacteria that may be present in the powder) then add powder from one of those powder dispenser things. Then you'd have to leave it to cool to drinking temp.

Cartons are easier though.

yes you can do that,we just take a carton and an empty sterilised bottle out with us xx

yep you can do that. It's exactly what we did when going out :)

Thats what i do or i sometimes take a sterile bottle and a carton with me.

Thanks alot :flower: I think I will do it that way then x

I take a carton and bottle when I go out but when at home I make up bottles in the morning inc the powder as the water should be above 70degrees to kill any bugs. I then quick cool and pop in the fridge the old school way lol. I then heat to room temp with hot water in a jug :)

I do exactly that

If we're going out and we'll just need 1 bottle, I'll take a bottle in a coolbag and then warm it up.

If we're out for the day, I take empty steralised bottles and use a carton.

I do have a great thermos flask for just little trips out, i'll see if I can find a link :)

This one, its great and has enough water to heat 2 bottles and the container is wide enough for TT bottles:)

That's what I used to do whan I had my son and he is fine!! I just can't decide if I should do it the old way or stick to the new recomendations

Thanks for your help x

I put the cooled boiled water into bottles and take powder in dispenser then add powder to bottle when needed and i dont warm it as she has it at room temp.

When im out and about with my Daughter i Carry around in her diaper Bag a 1 litre bottle of boiled but cold water 1 extra bottle with water in it and her can of formula and its been working for me for the past 5 months . Lucky for me my Daughter Doesnt like Warm Bottles .

I use a carton, and just take the bottle!
Although I have to use cartons at home too because Jacob can't drink our water :( ends up quite pricey!

Some of the advice is just so confusing now, just do what works for you, if you did what you did with your son 12years ago, no harm came to him!
