hey im currently 24w3d and in curiosity this morning i decided to measure my fh as ive been feeling a bit bigger then i should be... it was at 34-35cm.. i was shocked so i re measured, and got OH to do the same and they all came up between 33-35cm... then this afternoon i decided to check again during a bh, so i could feel exactly where the top of my uterus was and its measuring the same..

at my 22 week midwife appointment i measured 25-26cm and was told at my 26 week appointment id have to redo my gtt although my first came back normal..

does anyone have any suggestions as to why im measuring soo much bigger then i should be? any help will be much appreciated

heres some pics of bumpy today

my advice...dont measure yourself. let the dr do it...if theres a problem they will let you know.

yeah i know i shouldnt do it but im curious.. lol.. with my 19 week visit, i measured myself the day before and was only a cm off, so close to what i'd got...

I just finished doing a quick read about this as I was measured for the first time today and I'm 25cm at 22wks :dohh: So, what I came up with from my search was ... gestational diabetes, too much amnio fluid, multiples, baby sitting up high, previous pregnancies or just a big and healthy baby! I'd try not to worry about it, everything's probably ok :hugs: x

my midwife is worried about the GD, so she is sending me for a retest in 2 weeks, although i didnt get it with DD, and my test i did at 14 weeks came back perfect..

unfortunatly twins is out of the question although id love it if one was hiding, but no luck for me.. :P

bubs is sitting low like normal but i was thinking its the possibility of extra fluid or he is going to be bigger bubs.. i am worried but not enough to go before my next appointment which is in 2 weeks so i can wait until then to ask and see what her measurement is and then discuss what happens next if my measurement was right

Wow that is a big measurement  I measured 38cm at 32 weeks last time with Jake and was sent for a growth scan, they couldnt find any reason for it, he was average size, average fluid etc... He was 7lb 11oz when born but they did say i had excess waters then, they gushed so hard when I had my c-section they hit the ceiling!!!!
I think you'll probably be sent for a growth scan and obv tested for GD, everythings probably totally fine though, better big than small I guess! x

Pop and see your midwife, I measured big at 27 weeks and had to have lots of tests to make sure everything was ok with Joshua. Everything was fine but I would say get looked at it's better to be safe than sorry xx

I'm 25 weeks measuring 31 I have GD and baby normal size but I have a LOT of water, hoping you get a answer and everything is ok x

i might call my midwife tomorrow morning and see if she wants me to come in or not..

I would ring your midwife and tell her what you have measured.. hopefully she'll ask you to come in and check it herself.. Im measuring just right at 24 weeks but I thought my bump was quite big and bubs was measuring a little bigger (5 days) at the scan so i suppose its different for everyone x

with heidi (number 1), i always measured 3-4 days ahead by scans but right on by fh.. got home from movies and its still at 34 cm, and oh felt bubbys bum near where i start measuring from so its not like im measuring from nothing, ive been quite accurate so far measuring it, being a cm off at my 19 week visit (i got 21, mw got 20) and i had misplaced my measuring tape for my last visit so hoping when i call tomorrow she will ask me to come in..

Can I ask how much she weighed at birth? Im scared Im going to have a huge baby! x

Hope you get some answers,

I know someone who was measuring 44cm at 38 weeks, was told baba would be big, but he came out 7lb...
x

Wow that's a big difference! Are you measuring in the correct place? From the top of your pubic bone not the bottom!??? I suggest seeing your Mw again. I have GD and baby is measuring correct for dates at the moment. If you have GD it needs controlling sooner rather than later xx

i measure from the exact same spot at the top of my pubic bone as the midwife does for my measurements.. it wasnt all that long ago i was pregnant with heidi so its all fresh... lol :D

and so far im clear for GD, as i had a test at 14 weeks, but going in 2 weeks as the midwife wants me to redo it as i was 3cm ahead at my last midwife appointment... i havent really got any symptoms of gd tho, my vision is fine, im a bit sleepy but i put that down to getting up to a 11 month old at 8am after going to bed at midnight and getting up during the night and a bit more thirsty then usual but were heading into summer here in aus and its warmer... plus the whole more fluid intake = more urine output so im not entirely worried.. mw might move my GTT to tomorrow if she is really worried when i call but otherwise i have to wait until the 8th

called the midwife this morning and they have moved my appointment to friday... measured my fh again after sleeping with minimal movement and his still measuring at 30+...

I have always measured bigger than the weeks I am. I have been tested for GD with each pregnancy and never had it. My OB said me and hubby just make big babies!! lol Our dd was 9lb11oz and our ds was 9lb7oz! Don't worry too much. As long as your MW/doctor thinks everything is ok, you should be ok. GL :)

thanks.. ive decided im going to walk in expecting to hear something that way when she says its all fine ill be relieved, or if its bad ill atleast be expecting it...
