OK, after having dropping progesterone levels, my doctor sent us to a specialist to have an ultrasound to see if the pregnancy was viable. The good news is they found a heartbeat and told me so far, so good! However, the sonographer also found not one, but two large fibroids! One is the size of a plumb and at the top of my uterus. We were told it shouldn't pose a problem. However, the second one is about the size a large lemon and at the bottom of my uterus, near my cervix. We were told this could potentially grow during pregnancy and block my cervix during delivery, if it's not already. Basically, we were told to prepare ourselves for a c-section. While I'm happy to have a possible explanation for my cramps and pain, the thought of having a c-section is terrifying! Has anyone else here had large fibroids during pregnancy? Is there anything else I should expect?

I had a very large fibroid (the size of a softball) removed from the back of my uterus about 6 years before the birth of my 8 month old. The only issue the doc was worried about was because of it's size and my uterus possibly not being as strong as normal, because of scar tissue, we opted for a C-section. I didn't understand why he was so worried until a nurse friend of my explained that scar tissue won't expand and contract like the uterus normally would, it could possible tear. That being said, during the ultrasounds with my LO I was told I have another large fibroid hanging on the back of my uterus again… They said it should be fine and if I'm not in any pain, they'll just leave it alone. Mine did not grow during the pregnancy. The C-section wasn't that bad. It wasn't fun, but I've talked to women that have had a vaginal birth and I didn't have the pain from the pushing, my pain was just different. It hurt to laugh and cough and move real quick for a few day, but in a week or so I was about 80-90% better and doing most things for myself. I wish you the best! Good luck!!!

I had a couple small ones that they stopped seeing after awhile so they likely shrunk. I ended up with a CS for two breech boys and it really wasn't all that bad. I had them start pain meds before the spinal wore off and was never in bad discomfort.
