Finally Exclusively BF & Baby Girl has LOST weight*further 13oz gained combi-feeding

Hi Ladies

Update from weigh day - baby girl has put on 9oz!

So happy she's gained!! Finally! Just a shame its not all booby milk.

This weight gain has taken her to just above the 0.4th percentile :) If she keeps going at that rate, she'll be between the 50th and 25th percentile by 6 months which is where the HV says she should ideally be after being born on the 50th.

Phew, massive weight lifted :)

9oz is fantastic! :) You're almost at 4 months, you should be so proud of yourself, there is no shame in supplementing! :) Look at what you've accomplished together!

And my 1st was formula fed exclusively after a week when I had similar problems, I think you should really give yourself credit for such hard work! I know I couldn't do it, I'm in awe!

Thats really good :) keep growing lovely baba!! You have done so so well, and obviously combi-feeding is working for you. It must be a relief, hopefully you can now relax into a routine without all the worry that her poor weight gain was causing. You are a wonderful role model for anyone, trying so hard to do the best for your baby and it is paying off beautifully.

That's great, well done! Must be such a relief that your LO is gaining weight.

Wow that's awesome! Looks like combi-feeding is a great fit for you!

Thanks for all the support ladies :)

Baby girl was weighed today after another week of boob and supplementing.

She gained 13oz and is now at 10lb 12oz taking her to just below the 2nd percentile :)

Couple more weeks and she should be where the health professionals are expecting her to be.

Baby girl has been waking more at night though now, any suggestions as to why? Is this the four month regression I've heard about? What does it exactly mean?

Awesome! So glad to hear of the growth!

Probably is the 4mr. I didn't pay close enough attention to notice if my lo experienced it (plus w/cosleeping I just gave her the boob when she'd wriggle and fuss, so got to kind of half-sleep through it), but from my understanding when they hit a growth spurt around 4 months they wake more frequently at night to eat. Someone else will have to correct me if I'm wrong there, though.

:happydance: Well done, great growing baby girl. And well done mum, sounds like have really got this feeding sorted! :happydance:

Another 7oz gained this week. She's now officially ABOVE the 2nd percentile. Feeling so much better.

The top up amounts have increased though, she can now take a 4oz bottle after a feed. Will this continue to increase?

In EBF ladies - does your milk quantity increase with the baby's age? I thought the milk content changed instead? Is my milk not changing and thats why she needs increasing amounts of formula? She always has the boob first, then the top up, except for the last bottle of the day which is formula whilst I express. The expressed milk is then given as a top up during the night.

Thanks

Congrats, 7oz is fantastic!

4 months is a MASSIVE growth spurt - babies who formerly slept 3-6 hours (or 12) and ate every 3 hours will suddenly feed every hour. This starts somewhere between 16-19 weeks for most, mine did at 16 weeks (both of them). You will want to start putting her on the breast constantly. How far in between feeds are you? This can last a while, 4 weeks for my 2nd and 6 weeks for my 1st. This is the stage where women confuse it with neeeds for solids or "losing their supply".

If you google "Wonder Week 19" you'll find a ton of information online.

Thanks for the help :)

She used to sleep 4-5 hours during the night and now wakes twice, every 2-3 hours.

During the day she doesn't go more than 2 hours without a feed. Sometimes she just wants the boob, other times both.

Thanks ill google that :)

Hi Ladies

Thought it was time for an update.

I think baby girl was going through a massive growth spurt. She's now a fabulous 12lb 14oz :) and officially ABOVE the 9th percentile. That puts her within 2 percentiles of her birth weight, so she's now where she should be. So happy :)

Further good news, though a little strange. My milk supply seems to have increased massively?! No idea why? Anyone have a theory?

My boobs feel so full all of a sudden, and she drains them completely and then rarely wants a top up. She now just has 2-3 top ups a day, out of a total of 8 feeds.

A couple of days ago my husband let me sleep in and gave LO a bottle instead. I'd only not fed her for about 4 hours, and when I expressed I got off 6oz?! I used to pull off a max of 4oz.

?

Good news :)

Baby girl is currently on three solid meals a day and JUST the boob!

She now refuses bottles as it seems she's full enough from mommy and the solids.

I finally feel like a proper woman!
