After waiting for a fertility appointment for 3 months, I finally got one. Now 15 months into TTC, I'm scared, I'm sooo scared to go in there and talk about infertility. :help:
Does anyone have any advice for a first timer going into a fertility appointment?

It's daunting, but I'm sure it will be fine hun. The hardest part was hearing the word "infertile", as that is not what I envisioned I would be.

Make sure you go in with a list of questions (what are their different test/treatments, what are the steps that they go through, procedures, etc.) I asked the Dr. about all kinds of things like statistics, course of action, hormone levels, meds, etc. He probably thought I was nuts!

Hope your appointment goes well. xx

aww try not to worry hun...try & see it a step closer to having that gorgeous little baby in your arms :) When we went we had already been told through having tests done at our doctors that sperm was fine & i had polycysts on my only ovary but i was ovulating. When we went into the 1st appointment with specialist she went through all our medical notes & we were so shocked with what she said we 4got to ask alot of the questions that we wanted to!!! so i would def recommend writing them all down & take it with you. she said doctors shouldnt of said sperm was ok as it wasnt!! very low count & motility....so DH is now taking fertileaid for men bless him!! She also said my results from bloodtests were fine & not to worry bout the polycysts. so we went in thinking it was all down to me & came out knowing it was him which crushed him! couldnt talk to me for a whole day as he felt a failure!!! She boked me in to get my fallopian tube checked which i had last mon & was fine...dye went through tube fine :)

have u had any of the routine tests done yet like sperm & day 2-3 & day 21 bloods? xx

Nada - free medical likes to cut corners and costs!! unfortunately for me....

Hi
Just wanted to wish you good luck for your appt.
I'm working up to going to see my GP to ask to get referred for tests. But I don't even know where to begin!
I hope it goes well for you
xx

Posted this in ttc but here's the update for you ltttc-ers.

They gave me a list of labs to go get done, and told my hubbs to do a SA. He made the appointment for the SA, guess when it is? The 20th....... OF NOVEMBER! :dohh: Also told me I need to get an ultrasound since I have abnormal and irregular bleeding, and they want to check if I have or have had more cysts since my previous in jan and march.

Here's the kicker: I move in 9 weeks. It will take 3-4 weeks to get an ultra sound, and who knows how many until I can do the CD3 FSH/LH levels, and then 20 days later I need my Progesterone levels checked, and then I have to get CBC, TSH, Prolactin levels checked. THEN i cannot even MAKE the next appointment until AFTER all the labs are done and processed (so at least 48 hours after the last lab) and making an appointment means waiting another 2-4weeks to actually get INTO that appointment..... anyone see a timeline overlapping with my moving? OH YEAH and two weeks before we move, all medical records have to be moved to our new base... so i really only have 6 weeks to do tentatively 8 weeks worth of crap....................:growlmad:

OH YEAH something funny? He asked if my cycles were regular and I said no. Then he asked how many days they range from, I said "26 to 58 days" and he said "so do you have a period every month?" omg.:dohh: THEN i just hand him my list of my last 10 cycles, and he goes, "oh yeah.. these are actually very irregular!":dohh::dohh::dohh:

Hahaha.....your specialist sounds on the ball!!! You've got to laugh otherwise you'll go crazy!

I'm sorry to hear things are pretty busy and stressful at the moment, but try and take it one day at a time and see how things go from there, it can be quite overwhelming. Everyone here is great and are a great source of support and knowledge if you need it. Best of luck xo
