well its only taken 12 weeks of me saying something isnt right to my health visitor and her just saying i have a fussy baby stupid cow i went to the doctor on monday because feeding had got so bad and the screaming sounded so painful i told he doctor her symptoms and there we have it silent reflux now i bf so girls i need tips on how to get this gaviscon down her tried the bottle she just gags on it, tried the spoon and choking i can get bits and pieces in but not a whole dose, another thing im confused about is the whole sticking her tongue out in a rather odd fashion ive seen other reflux babes do it but have no idea why.

so all those ladies with reflux babes throw me all your tips and tricks we are in desparate need off them:hug:

Use a dropper.. you should be able to buy them with measurements on the actually dropper. I know I bought a baby medical kit and it came with one.. I dont know if you have them there?

Jasmine also sticks her tongue out sometimes in a really weird way... not all the time though... maybe she is doing it when she has gas?

hey hun glad they finally prescribed you the gaviscon, if you can get it down her it makes a big difference. Unfortunatly were almost 100% bottle fed :-( It was the only was I could get the gaviscon down her, she hated the water, it was too much hard work giving it to her on a spoon or little cup, she'd just spit it out. So We've gradually ended up on 3-4 bottles a day, still have a nice breastfeed in the mornnig though. Im sad, but at the same time Im happy, as she is a completely different baby, shes so much more content and settled, I can actually put her down on her play mat and she will smile at her reflection and I can get things done, whereas beforehand she would just scream and have to be help upright all the time.

Hopefully you'll be able to work a way out of getting it down her, whatever works best for you, but you will see such an improvement! xxxx

Get a syringe. That is what we use. If you get it in her mouth, on one side towards the back and then push the stopper slowly she should take it.

Keep her upright when you feed as much as you can. Then keep her totally upright for a good 30 minutes after she eats. Also if she can sleep inclined that is best.

gosh we're stillin the same boat hun im trying my damnest not to give up but its hard going at times god knows how many times i feed her a day it must stillbe about 9-12 times because some feeds are so short then the screaming begins, ive tried the dropper, and a spoon she still jusyt gags and chokes i might add abit of bm to the tommee tippee btn bottle and give it another go later ive also got to have a look at those bf supplimenter thingys that might work
thanks everyone for your tips ive got her in the sling for nap time still the only proper way i can get her to nap

I use A medicine dropper for max's zantac its the only way he will have it !

Oh Heather I sympathise, Ben has reflux too.

We were given carobel, I give it to him in a bottle with formula, then put him on the boob, then swap a bout like this till he is full. Means feeding takes bloody forever tho!!!

He has got so much better, tho he still has some bad days.

Gaviscon - This is mixed with bottle in our case heat milk then add powder. Its 2 sachets but it has to be in a minimum amount of milk I think its 200ml or more but can't be 100% sure all I remember is we were making more than the minimum needed anyway. She shouldn't gag on it given with bottle though.

Weeks is ok - took then months to confirm Caitlins!

Theres no way round it sadly you just have to wait for them to grow out of it. Caitlin still has it and HV said yesterday that it tends to slow down when baby is more upright (walking etc).

I bottle feed so can't help you but I'd probably try a syringe as others have said. I sympathize with you as Ollie has it too x

we use a syringe when breast feeding, charlie hated it at first but got used to it and now has it no problem x

Could you put it into one of the medicine soothers... They are like a normal soother but it has a space to put meds into and then a little hole in the soother part so when they suck they get the meds too

What are the symptoms of reflux? My baby screams virtually all night and quite a bit during the day. When we wind her she rarely burps. We are wondering if it's colic or something. The screams are terrible and sometimes there is nothing we can do to calm her down. She only sleeps at night if she is held so we are barely sleeping at all!

How are things going hun? Is she any better? And have you sussed how to give it to her? I give mine to Oliver by the bottle - as with your LO, he used to refuse it and gag on it, until I realised that he takes it completely if made with warm water instead of cold or room temperature.
