Hi all

After stupidly going and asking the doc to prescribe me chlomid (niavely thought he could just write a prescription! :dohh:), I have got an appointment at the Gynae Endocrinology clinic next Friday but dont have a clue what to expect? Is the first appointment just for a chat or will they do some tests (will be day 18 of my cycle)?

Thanks and babydust to everyone xxx

Hi there! What was the reason for asking for clomid? Do you have problems ovulating?

The gyno will probably start the ball rolling with tests. If you haven't already had blood tests they will be the first ones - these check that you're ovulating. They do two - the first on day 1-3 of your cycle and the second on day 21. The first checks all different levels of hormones etc and the second detects whether or not you've ovulated that cycle.

The results of the blood tests would probably determine what happens next.

In my experience the bloods were fine so DH had to have a SA, then we were both referred to fertility specialist who organised yet more tests for me - internal ultrasound and HSG.

Good luck!

Hi and thanks for your reply................I asked for chlomid to try to get the ball rolling in getting us some help, I used OPK's for the last month and dont think I ovulated - I know one month isnt very long but we have been trying for ages and am now panicking cos of our ages.

I cannt imagine how frustrated you and o/h must feel knowing there is no explanation for why you cannt catch and wish you all the luck in the world in getting a bfp soon x

Thanks hun, yes I am very frustrated!!

If I were you I'd give the OPKs another go this month. Some people never get positives on them but still ovulate, so the blood tests at doctors will be useful in telling you either way. I used cheapie ones a couple of months ago and didn't get a positive, but used digital ones this last cycle and got one, so the extra money was well spent for me!

I wouldn't really think of clomid as an option at this stage until you know whether or not you ovulate. But of course, if it looks like you need it then it will be a great step. Unfortunately for us its not really a particularly useful option because of the fact I already ovulate. But it seems to be a miracle pill for others.

Good luck anyway. xx
