I just found out that I am pregnant on this last saturday. My first appointment is on December 5th. I was just wondering what everyones first appointment consisted of. Thanks

blood tests and urine tests. congratulations on your news.

blood tests and urine tests. and weight and blood pressure. congratulations on your news.

Hi

I had my first appt at just over 5 weeks and was a little disappointed as the MW only tested my weight and gave me pregnancy book thing to fill in, which you take to every appt/hospital with you. So don't be surprised if this is all she does, although i have heard other people getting more checks and things done at their first appt.

my first appointment was quite quick too. She gave me a quick feel to see if I was over 12 weeks already (my dates are funny!), we talked through what would happen next, she gave me lots of paperwork and I asked lots of silly questions!

My first appointment was just questions. She asked if we knew what hospital we wanted to deliver at (I think so she could come up with a list of obestricians later on), told me to take an additional vitamin supplement, and asked if we wanted to have the tests done for downs syndrome, which we refused. That was basically it, five minutes and we were in and out. She did send me for bloodwork though (they don't do it at the office so I had to go to an outside clinic) and they are running several tests via the bloodwork.

I was on fertility drugs, so my first appt was an US to determine if there was more than one little thing in there. LOTS of talking and questions, blood work..kinda boring other than the US! Good luck!

Congrats on your news!

My first appt consisted of: being weighed, urin test, blood tests, had a regular smear test as well, and they tested for Chlamydia (which apparently over here is the norm), had an internal scan etc but it was too early to see anything. Gotta go back next week for another scan and will get the pregnancy book thing then as well. Was given forms to fill out etc and take back next week and told about the test for Downs Syndrome, so that we can start thinking about whether we want it or not. Lasted about an hour all in all.

Hope that helps

I got my first appointment on December 4th. But what I heard is that it isn't all that exciting. Just paperwork and maybe some (blood and/or urine) tests..
