I really thought this baby would be a girl as we have never had a boy baby on my side of the family before. Dh has had more boys on his side than girls.

Don't get me wrong I am so so excited and happy, but I am also nervous as I don't know the first thing about boy babies. I figure a baby is a baby and it's just the parts that are different lol.

Some ladies have told me that they have adored having their little men in their lives and I have no doubt I am going to feel the same way. Can anyone share any main differences u have experienced with baby boys versus baby girls? I think it's more an out of my comfort zone kinda thing, so learning more and hearing everyone's experience can help me be more prepared when baby comes.

Woo hoo to team blue!!!:happydance:

I've got 3 kids (#4 arriving in June). I have 2 boys and 1 girl.
Both my boys are very different.
My first son is the typical rough and tumble boy. From day 1 he has been high energy, super easy going baby, happy, and didn't didn't use a lot of words until over two(closer to three)...which is pretty typical for boys. He developed quickly as a toddler with walking milestones etc. Had a hard time sitting still. Again, very normal! He didn't potty train until 3. He's now a confident 6 year old happy guy, and loves school and super social!

My 2nd son is only 18 months, but is happy to sit and read books, very clingy to me, easy going, a bit shy and not as outgoing. Doesn't have much vocabulary yet. He's our little thumb sucker lol!! Such a sweet personality and full of joy!
My daughter is 3 and was speaking full sentences by 18 months, potty trained by 2, and will sit quietly and colour and do art for a good hour independently. She's our fiery red head! But oh soooo sweet!

So that's the differences we see, all of them have different personalities! Boys are wonderful!!!!! Love them and they have such a close relationship with their mamas!!!! Enjoy!! Congrats on your baby boy!

I really wanted a girl with my first and I had a boy. My second was a girl.

So far I have found no real difference between genders other than clothes. Both of them play with boy/girl toys. Both have their quiet times and mad times.

My little boy is incredibly loving and so is my little girl.

We find out the gender of this baby on Christmas day and i have no preference whatsoever.

I've enjoyed having a little boy and a little girl equally, and my daughter is such a mummy's girl - we are very close. But nothing quite compares to the experience and the bond I have with my son. I can't explain it, or put it into words. The sense of pride I have always had, the adoration, the thinking that everything he does is amazing is just so strong! I feel it for my daughter too of course, but it's a bit different with my boy.

"My little man" was something I called him a lot as a baby. And I don't think having a baby boy is any different from a girl, apart from changing their bottoms and one having a penis and the other not :).

I was thrilled when we found out we are having a boy. A little nervous just because I'm a girl. I know girl hobbies, girl clothes, girl parts.. a boy seems kind of foreign. And I have already told my husband that there will be decisions that will be predominantly up to him. Starting with circumcision... I don't feel even a little qualified to decide something like that. And the birds and bees and puberty will be up to him too. But the vision in my head of overalls and cute hats and just in general the idea of him. I'm smitten. After a lifetime of being surrounded by women I am going to have two men in my life. Feels kind of amazing.

I'm a FTM but my sister has a boy and girl that I have spent a lot of time with. They're not all that different when they're tiny, you start noticing the differences as they get older. My nephew (4) is rough and tumble, doesn't listen, but is a total sweetheart. My niece is all girl.. she thinks things through even though she is only two, she listens well but just ignores the request if she doesn't agree with it, she's good at not getting caught when she's doing something naughty. She's also a sweetie but you have to keep your eye on her much more than the boy who will do things right in front of you instead of being sneaky about it. My sister says boys are easier, most moms of both that I've talked to have said that. I must be crazy.. I still wanted a girl.. and got her!!

Oh man I wish that was the case with my kids. By far boys are much more work than girls as toddlers at least in my experience!! Lol!! Girls are more work as teenagers I'm told. I guess we'll see! I think it just comes down to personality

It is all down to personality. I have 2 gorgeous girls and would have loved another girl this time. We don't mind what we had as long as baby is healthy and that to us is most important. So we found out we were having a boy this time. I admit after a couple of days I was feeling like I lost a daughter, like I had replaced her with a son. I think I'm feeling this way as we nearly lost our DD2 due to a heart condition and I only had experience of girls. Both my DD are so different too and I know I will love this baby just as much. I'm also told that when they are babies, the only difference is their nappy parts.

Congratulations on team :blue:
I have 3 of them, they are amazing!
There's really not much difference in the early days other then the obvious willy and balls lol and the way you dress them :)
You'll be fine.

Welcome and congrats on Team Blue! :)

I have the same worry, haha... like how do you clean their bits?

Ladies thanks for all the advice! I got up this morning thinking I can't believe I am going to have a son, and all of a sudden I couldn't imagine it any other way! I feel so in love with him now that I know 'he' is there kicking away and I can't wait to meet him. I am still a bit scared but I guess I would be even if baby was a girl!

I am so happy to be team blue and have already started planning our gender reveal for christmas day!

Haha thanks kitteh kat! Lol I have been reading up on the cleaning the bits part haha and I guess that's prob the only real difference! And when he gets older I will let dh do his fatherly thing and take over lol

One thing to remember is when changing a boys diaper, point his penis south. Otherwise in the middle of the night he will leak all over the top and out of his diaper;) I found out the hard way with my first boy!
Boys are much easier to clean than girls!! Not much to it;)

Im the same as you, DH and I REALLY wanted a girl but boy it is! Which, I shouldn't of really been surprised, my husband is one of seven boys. But even his mother was hoping we would have a girl lol.

It was a little disappointing for me but not terribly. My sister was devastated when she found out she was having a boy but now she says she would never have anything else if she chose to have another lol.

For me, I am a little dissapointed as I always imagined having a girl first but it also took me several years to get pregnant and I've suffered some losses so at this point, I'm just happy to have a baby! But I also like the idea of an older brother, especially if we have a girl next. :)

What are you doing for your gender reveal? I'm going to fill a big box with pink "it's a girl" balloons and have the little kids open it after they open their presents. I told everyone I don't find out until Dec. 31st so they aren't expecting it. My official hospital scan is the 31st, but we got a private scan on the 12th.

Aw that's awesome! So kewl that u are getting the kids involved too.

We are going to serve out Champagne and crackers and put a gender reveal fizz tablet into the crackers and once they pop the crackers- they will find the tablets. They will have to pop the white fizz tablets into their glasses at the same time and all will be revealed!

They are expecting the reveal to be on xmas but don't think any of them have a clue that it's blue lol

That's awesome! I had no idea those tablets even existed. In my family, I think everyone is expecting a girl anyway. All the women say they can't picture me raising anything but a girl.

I have a boy and due my second boy in April :) My son is sooo lovely and such a mummy's boy.

As for the nappy changing I would imagine cleaning a baby boy is easier than a girl?

I have babysat a lot of baby girls for friends and I agree that boys are easier to clean up. :) My warning is that their little boy part can get hard from the moment they are born so don't be alarmed when it happens.
