:baby:Last year I embarked on the baby making journey as a single woman using Donor sperm. I had a few issues with the Fertility unit at the hospital as I am a brain tumour sufferer have low thyroid function and low fertility. I am Virgo Intacta so at the age of 40+ this is very scary for me to try for a baby. After months and months of appointments and scans etc I had my first IUI last month which failed. I gave up drinking, smoking, ate healthier and was on folic acid for 2 years and started taking pregnacare fertility & conception, so was convinced that it was going to work. Just before my pregnancy test I had a heavy bleed and was cramping severely for 8 days. I went to A&E and they didnt say much really other than to rest. I have been upset ever since and the Fertility centre has not been supportive. The treatment I had was a natural cycle of IUI..my cycle use to be 23 days but since the IUI..it was 28 days this month. I wanted to try again using fertility drugs and start this month, but fertility centre are telling me that if I want a medicated cycle of IUI I would need to wait to see the Embryologist and fertility specialist to discuss this. I did not want to have a cycle break, I just want to get on with it and get my body working. The poor little eggs have never seen sperm before so really want to give them something to look forward to. They saw some last month, so they must be looking forward to seeing more lool. I have to be positive and stay positive as I really believe its going to work soon. My dilema is..do I do natural again.or should I try medicated. Any ladies out there with similar issues, please help me out by commenting, this is much appreciated☺

Can I ask why you're doing IUI?

How I respond to your question would be largely based on the answer behind the need for it :flower:

I TOTALLY missed the first line about you being single and using donor sperm, I'm so sorry!

Is it safe to assume they did follicle studies to time the IUI? How many mature did they see and did they confirm you ovulated successfully afterward via blood test or another ultrasound?

Did they run a beta to determine if you were successful in conception but maybe had a chemical pregnancy?

Assuming they did the proper follicle studies and blood work and confirmed you're ovulating normally, I'd give it another go naturally. The meds are rough, and if you don't need them there's no reason to go that route, especially as it increases the odds of multiples and any pregnancy is already going to be higher risk in your case.

It's so hard to be patient with these things but I personally wouldn't take a jump up unless it's determined you need it :flower:
