I had my first IUI earlier this week and I am so anxious to find out the results. I am wondering what a "normal" sperm count/motility is. My DH had 9 million sperm with a 92% motility. From what I have googled, it seems like 9 million is low. Anyone have any insight on this? I know it only takes one, but we have been trying for so long (which I know is the case for everyone), and I am just so anxious. Also what are people's opinions on alcohol during the tww after IUI. At this point I am just not having any alcohol (and also following all the very specific instructions about no caffeine, etc...basically acting like I am already pregnant). But I am curious what other people do!

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Hi there Molly! 9 Million with that good a motility might be alright depending on the volume of semen. Generally 22 Million per ML is what is accepted to be normal with anywhere from 3-5ML volume. The doctors wouldn't even do an IUI if they felt it wasn't worth it so take comfort there. I wasn't able to take part in an IUI with my DW because my sperm count was so low and motility was 20%.
