first period aftet birth and tampons

IM now 6 week post natal and stopped bedding the about 2 week ago, yesterday i started period, a fairly normal one. Today its really dark red and pretty heavy on the nhs it says to speak to gp if your using a sanitry towel less than every 4 hours.. IM changing every hour or so and using the big thick ones.
i really cant stand using pads any longer, i have eczema and pads cause it to flare up around that area, its really uncomfy and irritating when can i use tampons? Ive lost one or 2 tiny clots and had a feel in there yesterday and don't feel tender or sore so assuming ive healed. It says on the web to wait till after your 6 week app, but how will they know wether i can use them or not, will they have a feel?? Did anyone else use them on their own free will, or did you wait?

They won't feel anything at the six week appt unless you ask them. I personally found the 6 week check up pretty pointless for me. I think you can use tampons for the first period just not during post Partum bleeding x

I couldn't use them at 8 months PP I would wait the 6 weeks but only you know when you are ready on how sore it is or is not!

In Alberta (Canada) we get a full Pap smear at the 6 week appointment. But I think you'd be safe to use them on now if you feel ok

I had a thorough 6wk check (they don't feel or look for you where you live?) and was given the okay for tampons and sex. If your cervix has closed and your tears have healed you ought to be okay for tampons. Although can I tell you, I just finished my first period and used tampons for it - they don't stay in as well as they used to!!! Hopefully that's just because it's only been 6wks since my stuff was stretched out to accommodate a watermelon and it will tighten up some more as time goes on...

so if they dont feel up there, how do they know youve healed ready for tampons? they say u can have sex at about 6 week, so why not tampons?
ive gone by my own instinct, i feel fine, not sore, a bit heavy when been walking or standing, ive tried using one this morning and feels fine, need to change after a hour cos im that heavy, but just started taking the pill today so will hopefully stop bleeding this week
