Just had my first prenatal appointment with my nurse so I thought I'd give you guys a run-down, in case you're wondering what exactly goes on..
I got to skip the pelvic exam since I had a pap test in late May and got pregnant in June (which I was SO thankful for because a-my size 26W jeans are getting too tight to comfortably take off/put on over my newfound booty haha, b-I was afraid it'd make me have to pee immediately before I got my pants back on haha)
We filled out forms just collecting my name, the father's name, our jobs, education levels, etc. which are mandatory forms in Ontario.. information about my health, our family genetic histories, and ethnic/religious backgrounds...
We discussed how my family doctor doesn't deliver babies anymore, but since my boyfriend's doctor is actually in the same medical office and she DOES deliver babies, the nurse is going to find out if she'll take me on
We booked an IPS test, which is optional, but tests for neural tube defects, trisomy 18 and down syndrome.. I decided I wanted to know if the baby had any of those things, so I'm having the test next Wednesday at the hospital.
We also got out this monitor so that I could hear the baby's heartbeat. She told me not to be upset because it's still early but we heard it after only looking for about a minute It was so small and cute, I nearly cried. Best day of my life definitely.
Also calculated my due date (March 22- I'm 11 and a half weeks along!) and I got weighed, my blood pressure taken, went to the lab to get blood tests done and a urine test.
All of it took about an hour in total.. and I go back in a month!
