First prenatal visit

I just got my this morning. I'm excited but nervous because I'm 35 getting ready to be 36. I will be 5 weeks on Saturday according to lmp. My question is at what week will I have my first prenatal visit. I have 3 children but can't remember how many weeks I was before I had my first visit to OB/GYN. I'm hoping to be able to see the dr asap because I had a missed miscarriage at approximately 8 weeks in May 2010, the gestational sac kept growing but nothing was inside of it and so I ended up having a d&c. Advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks and everyone have a happy and healthy 9 months.

Hello and congrats!! I know it's different in every area, but as soon as I got my BFP I was on the phone with my OBs office and they had me come in straight away, which was at 6 weeks. It was more of an appt to confirm the pregnancy, and to discuss any concerns and to schedule my first 'complete prenatal' appt, with exam, bloodwork, etc. My OB scheduled that first prenatal appt for when I was 9 weeks along.

I would give them a call, and given your age and history of a recent miscarriage, they may get you in sooner.

Hi and congratulations!!

I know how you feel having had a missed miscarriage previously. I had one which wasn't detected until my 12 week scan last April but embryo was only around 5-6 weeks Consequently, falling pregnant with this little one was very nerve-wracking indeed

My first appointment with midwife was around the 7 week mark this time I think but, despite my history, I could not get an early scan. I paid private for one as there was no way I could go all the way to 12 weeks again.

Hopefully it may be different for you and you'll get an early scan. But rest assured, chances are that all will be fine this time I am now less than 8 weeks away being due this little one and all is going really well

Congrats!! and welcome to the boards.

I think offices vary in when they see you the first time. I always called my MWs office as soon as I found out I was pg. And got scheduled in right away.

Congratulations on your BFP. You are just a youngster at 35!! I had a viability scan at 10 weeks to date the pregnancy, not sure if that's the norm where you are though? I would call your care practitioner ASAP to start the ball rolling.
