First scan.

Went for a dating scan today. Totally forgot how uncomfortable having a full bladder was. I nearly didn't make it to the bathroom in time straight after!!
Everything looked fine and where it should be. We got to see and hear the heartbeat (164) and the technician showed us the perfectly circular yolk sac. Baby was moving around but stayed still long enough for some measurements. I didn't get a photo, as I have to go back again in a few weeks for the genetic testing scan and bloodwork. I have never seen a baby earlier than the 12 week ones you get in the UK so it was kind of cool. Feeling much more relaxed now. I have had no bleeding, spotting just severe morning sickness which i am taking diclectin for. Boobies feel like there is gravel in my bra..so I hope that dies down soon. All in all - a great day!

Glad it went well honey, for what its worth I almost never made the toilet either! xxx

This has made me feel so much more relaxed for my scan tomorrow I'm so nervous I can't eat! GLad all is well for you x x

Yay!! Explain the "gravel" feeling in your bra. Do you mean heavy or lumpy? haha

Re: bladder...I find it odd because I have never been asked to have a full bladder during an ultrasound and I had a LOT with DD and have had 3 thus far with baby #2. I wonder why it's necessary?

I suppose this early they have to be sure an abdominal u/s will work! The lady in reception was watching me like a hawk. She said if I really needed to pee I could just squeeze a bit out!! Ive already had 2 kids so once the floodgates open there is no stopping them! So squeezing wasn't an option. Oohhh the boobs feel like even my bra irritates them, it's actually a release taking it off at night then the boobs feel heavy! My youngest is 9 so but I definitely didn't have boobs this sore before.

I had to do that THREE times waiting for my 7 week rescan (first tech told me there was only a sac). I felt like I was about to explode. After about 15 minutes past my scheduled time I went and asked how much longer and was told a minute. I said okay I can wait a minute. 15 minutes later I said, no way I can wait any longer and released some pressure. 15 minutes later, AGAIN. and then 15 minutes later AGAIN. They finally called me and I though I was going to burst when she pressed with the scope. She had me go before the internal and when I came back she told me I must have REALLY had to go because my bladder was still full. Luckily for the 12 week scan I didn't need a full bladder. She even asked if I needed to go before we started.

I have gravel boobs too then!

I just had transvaginal ultrasounds early on. The nurse asked at my 9 week appt if I had a full bladder and when I said no, she said they would just do an internal scan if necessary (it wasn't). It sounds crazy and kind of cruel to make a pregnant woman sit around with a full bladder when they can just use the probe. :)

Same here, this is my fourth baby, fifth pregnancy. I almost always see my midwife at about 6-7 wks along, and she always does a scan on the first visit (yah) and she has never said i needed a full bladder!!

So glad all looks well with yours!
