First scan?

I will be 7 weeks along when I get my first scan on Wed. Do they always do an internal scan? Or have some of you gotten the external doppler on your first ultrasound?

My first private scan was at 7 weeks and they did an abdominal scan; However, your OB will probably do a transvaginal scan. It's not uncomfortable or anything so don't worry. I had a transvaginal scan done at 9w3d.

I had my first scan at 9 weeks and it was transvaginal as they said that the external one probably wouldnt be very effective. The doc also said that there was no point in using the doppler as it was so early that it was unlikely they'd hear anything anyway!

I figured they would do the transvaginal since I am still so early in my pregnancy. Thanks ladies!
