First time charter- help needed!

Hey Everyone!

This is my first month really trying for our first and I have been charting my temps, CP, CM, and using OPKs. I thought I had been ovulating around day 22 but seem to of either been getting that wrong or Od a bit earlier this month!

If you look at my chart it says I Ovd on day 19- but based on my symptoms I really felt like it was on day 20. Unfortunately, my DH was away and we could only BD on day 20 during my fertile window!

But my question is could I remotely be pregnant if we BD on the day of my temp shift and secondly is there anyway FF could of predicted my Ov wrong Like I was still getting positive OPKs on day 21- could this be possible after I ovulated? I just feel I ovulated on day 20 but maybe this is wishful thinking!

Hey there,

Judging from your temps FF doesn't look like its off on the day you O'ed. Typically they recommend once you get a positive OPK to stop using them, because it could take 12-36 hours for you to ovulate and you could get a false reading the day after because your surge has already started. its the LH that pushes your temps up, and its that hormone that OPKs detect. FF will detect O when it sees a temp jump over 3 days - the initial jump is typically anywhere from .4 degrees to 1.0 degrees farenheight.

There is a chance that BDing the day after O can get you pregnant.... so long as the sperm catches the egg before it deteriorates. Good luck!

My other question is whether my temps look OK. When I look at others charts there seems to be a quicker rise? Mine seems to be quite gradual- does this indicate there might be an issue??

Nothing wrong with a gradual rise. I've had some months with a gradual rise, and others with a quick substantial one.

Your chart is looking good. It looks like FF has the crosshairs in the right place. They say there's a chance you can still get pregnant when BDing the day after you O. You just have to do all that you can if DH is away and hope for the best.

A slow rise is fine and really yours isn't that slow. Good luck

Yes maybe I'll be the lucky one! Just sucks we couldn't BD more but at least we got one in in the fertile(ish) window!

Bluebelle, my DH is in the military. He goes away with sometimes less than 24 hours notice. It's frustrating because we really just need them home for 3 days a month, otherwise it's a whole cycle wasted. FX it's enough but if not, that DH will be home next cycle.

Oh poor you! Luckily normally my DH doesn't travel too much so I guess I shouldn't complain!

Thanks Bluebelle it does make things tricky.

Sorry disregard this chart. DH and I had our first fertility appointment on the 1st. The doctor prescribed provera, which tricks your body into think it's ovulated. You take it for 10 days and then stop and AF comes. I stopped temping from the 1st because after taking provera I won't O. I start Clomid next cycle so I'm hopeful that AF will be here in the next few days so we can start again fresh.
