I'm a first time mom as in I'm pregnant with my first but I do have a lovely stepson. If you're a first time mom or second, third, eighth etc, have you noticed yet that baby rearing/pregnancy is a ridiculously heated topic just like politics and religion???! Everything to do with how you decide to raise your child is judged, questioned and debated. Some are very nice with how they disagree but others can really raise your blood pressure!

I had no idea how intense some seemingly innocent threads could get. As I progress throughout my pregnancy and child raising, and ladies, this only gets worse as we go further along- you should see some threads! I promise I will do my best to:

post my opinions as politely as possible when disagreeing with another's opinion

Never resort to name calling!

Respect and understand that the majority of members on this forum truly do want to raise their child as best they can

Offer any help, sympathy and support that I can

Since many of us are going through pregnancy together, it would be so much nicer to have polite disagreements vs locked threads and bitter feelings!!
Any thoughts? Similar feelings? Lol am I alone in hating when things get ugly and personal?

couldn't agree more - very well said! have seen some threads go very wrong & am surprised and shocked at some posts

I mean, I'm on here for honest advice and camaraderie since there's others going through the same issue and I don't want to mess up something important. I had NO idea how full of land mines mommyhood could be! RIDICULOUS. I don't mind if someone disagrees with me and has a valid reason to do so and explains politely... But some people just have no tact and like to bulldoze

I know the feeling. Sometimes I feel like it's a competition on here :(

But, there is generally some lovely people on here too. Not all bad :)

When a thread starts getting taken more personally than seen as others' opinions, I back away from the thread. I don't like that one bit.

I'd rather have polite disagreements than locked threads as well.

As my mom, my OB, and my chinchilla breeder have all told me - everyone will have opinions on how to raise your kids, but in the end, only you (and possibly your OH) are the ones responsible for your child and know what the right decision is for your child.

Some people think after popping out a baby, they gain some superior intelligence or something
Almost everyone on the planet has a kid and most mammals have a litter at a time so I hardly think it makes anyone special.
To the one's who whine about how "hard" it is, I just want to say "maybe you just suck at it" :happydance:

Be thankful real life isn't so ridiculous! :haha: With Nolan, it took me awhile to learn to take everything with a grain of salt in regards to some threads, and to just steer clear of heated threads. Also, the ignore list can become an amazing friend! :flower:

You're right! Some of the posts are terrible! We each have various ways of doing things and we all have our own opinions. No need for name calling!

Ha we discipline our kids when they don't play nicely. Bit hypocritical I think. I was just a little wound up since I read a lot of the different sections and saw some major issues I would love to avoid later on.
