First time using OPKs

So I decided after a lengthy (for me at least) first time ttc that I'd try and narrow things down for myself this time around. My cycles are irregular but with the exception of cycles like my last (65 days!) they roughly run between 30-40 days. I invested in 50 OPKs (cheap ones from amazon) and took one yesterday after they arrived (I thought I may have missed my ovulation but was testing anyway) and it was a definite negative, the line was barely there. Today I took another and it was the same as the test line so a positive, I also have EWCM so definitely think I've read it right but I thought it would be a gradual increase in the darkness of the lines, is this possible to go from almost nothing to a strong positive?

Some people do seem to have quite a rapid surge. I’d get DTD!

The plan is definitely to DTD for the next few days (and of course last night after the positive lol), also gonna test again to see if it's gone back to negative, EWCM is still there so hoping we've caught my ovulation this cycle
