first ultrasound question

I go for my first ultrasound in two weeks. Ill be 8 weeks.

Will it be an external ultrasound? Or internal?

I live in the states if that makes a differance?

Most likely external unless they're unable to get a clear image, then they'll want to try internal. I had external at 6+6 and saw everything clearly x

Mine was internal at 7+2. I'm an extremely skinny girl but from being bloated so badly, they couldn't pick up anything with an external ultrasound.

Could be either or, usually after 7w they can start picking up on external but really just depends on machine and you. Most likely they will try external first but if they can't pick up anything do internal.

I went at 8 weeks & 1 day and mine was internal, but I didn't know how far along I was at the time either. The internal ones aren't as bad as you think they are, a little awkward, but your so excited to see the baby that it wont matter.

I had internal ultrasounds until 11 weeks I think...but it may all depend on the office you go to

With my son, they did an internal at 8 weeks and external at 20 weeks. I am in the States too.

I'm in the US and had an internal at 9 weeks. Just depends on your practice and such. Good luck!

How weird is the internal? Do you have to strip down into a hospital gown?

I know I need to get used to people being down there but.....ugh.......

I had the external at both scans at 6 wks and 8wks. You could clearly see everything.
Internals are not that bad, i've had them before to check for cyst.
It kinda looks like a skinny vibrator, only part i didnt like is when they wanted to take at the far left and right side near my ovaries.

Its not too bad. No they just ask you to take everything belly the waist off and you butt a paper thing over it so they see nothing, the put what looks like a slender wand/vibrator looking this up there, They didnt try an external with me first just an internal, trust me once you see the little one and hear its heartbeat nothing else matters.
