Before going on maternity leave I worked Monday-Friday full time with some weekend work. My place of work attracts a three hour commute every day.

I'm thinking about requesting dropping one day and asking to work two days from home.

Do you think this is too much to ask? The type of work I do enables me to do it remotely.

(I suffered terrible pregnancy sickness when I was expecting so worked two days from home to help ease my struggle.)

i dont see why you cant ask, i figure you dont ask, you dont get.

it seems reasonable if you can do it that way and your company wont suffer because of it, i.e. needing someone in the office/place of work.

i gennuinely think it depends on the company; youll have to fill out paperwork which will look at the impact of your decision on the company/role and others within it.

my place of work now were really flexible with my childcare so i have an afternoon off a week however in my place of work before i asked for a friday off and was told no because we delivered a group on a friday morning and if i didnt go to work then, then the pressure would be on my team mates...which was strange when i offered to pick up more groups during the week to stop this from happening.

good luk, i think you just need to try it. even if they say no you know then why and to see if you can alter your plans a little to fit you and the employer.

fingers crossed for you

Thanks for your reply.

They aren't going to offer me anything so I don't know what to do. It's a three hour round trip commute every day so doing that and full time isn't something I want to do.

:hugs:

The company I was with previously has an office that's about an hour and a half away from here, and I'm 99% sure they would have taken my transfer if I had asked. But the extra income and keeping my career with that company just wasn't enough to give up seeing my family during the week and missing out on DD except for days off.

Is there anything closer that you can check into for jobs?
