Flu shot in pregnancy?

Since I am gonna be pregnant for the entire upcoming winter I am a little
nervous and scared about getting the flu.
I tend to have a cold and/or flu each season, and I don't want this to happen when I am carrying my little one.
Has anyone had the shot while pregnant?
Other ladies, are you planning on having this?
Thanks.

It is completely safe to get a flu shot. My ob recommended that I wait until after 12 weeks to get it. He says if I am prone to getting sick they it well actually be very beneficial.

hmm i got a letter saying u cant get it when pg or bf! i have asthma and need it but coz im bf tough! xxx

i didnt think u cud have it preg either, i missed mine with both my pregnancies, i am prone to asthma so need it too

I get it each year because of my asthma, and as we were ttc this time last year, I asked the question before she injected me, and the nurse said it was perfectly safe and if it was up to her, she'd give it to every pg woman.

wish theyd all live by 1 rule book!!! bloody docs eh!!!

I know its such a pain in the arse! I got my appt through-was for Fri past (12/10) but in with the appt card I got a leaflet saying you can't get it if you're ill, pregnant, breast feeding and there was summit else!

Fookers!x

I'm not worried about it. If my doctor wants me to go get one I will but if not then I won't. I don't see the need to start worrying people about it. You can get influenze anytime of the year.
I haven't had it in 4 years (havent had flu shot in about 4 years). I know if I go get one that I will probably get sick after!!! I'm pretty healthy and I dont have asthma. So we'll see what happens.

My GP suggested I get one this winter, because I am pg. I don't think I will. I'm healthy, no asthma, so I think I'm okay.

There is pretty much only one rule in medicine: Disagree with every other doctor about everything, and confuse the crap out of your patient. :p

I'd think that the risk of getting an injected flu shot would be pretty minimal, as they make that vaccine from dead influenza. Apparently the nasal version of the vaccine contains 'weakened' live influenza, so it's not a good idea for pregnant women to use it, however. From what I know, many doctors actually recommend that all pregnant women get a flu shot (injected) during flu season, just to be on the safe side. Seems reasonable.
