Hi ladies,

My LO is 10 weeks old today and at his last weigh in at 8 weeks, he was 11lbs. I have just increased his feeds to 6oz, as he still seemed hungry. Problem is, he's really not feeding any less during the day. I'm feeding him pretty much every 2 hours and he has one 7oz bottle before his bed. He does sleep all night (8pm-5.30am) so I'm not doing night feeds. He then goes back down till 9.30am and it's every 2 hours after that, maybe one feed will stretch to 3 hours if he has a nap in the afternoon.

I'm just worried I'm over feeding him. He is becoming a big boy, but I thought when their feeds increased, the bottles per day should decrease?

What do we think?

Based on weight he should be having around 30oz a day. But pesonally I wouldnt be worried if he is having alot more than this. As long as he is not throwing it back up or gaining excessive amounts of weight (ie his weight is so high its off the charts) then I wouldnt worry. xx

At 10 weeks Sam had all 7 oz bottles - 5 a day. I know it was about 5oz a day more than recommended but I think he knew what he needed and it didn't do him any harm. I don't really believe babies can overfeed, at least not if it's not makingh them sick.

11lbs at 8 weeks sounds very healthy. I think it's 3-4 months where you are expected to have doubled your birthweight.

Thanks.

He's 10 weeks now and will get him weighed this week. He was only 6lbs 5oz at birth, so he will definitely double his birth weight early, but I think because he was smaller to begin with, he's been playing catch up. He's certainly not huge, but I just worry because he always seems hungry.

I don't want to go down the route of Hungry baby milk, because if he's hungry, he's hungry. We're still on 6 bottles a day, but last night he did only take 4oz before bed and then passed out and that was him till 8am this morning. It's just hard to get anything done during the day, because he wants to feed all the time.

I'll just keep giving him what he wants and hopefully he'll slow down at some point!
