why is it as soon as ive done a big food shop i find ive already developed a list of more stuff weve run out of and find myself popping to the local supermarket for odds and sods on a bi daily basis?

i pride myself on being organised. i write lists and only buy what we need so why do i feel like im constantly shopping?

any tips? im starting to think im some kind of shop-aholic and its driving me nuts!

Hiya,

We have a great thread going in third trimester forum, take a peek. Has some great tips. I think its called shopping on a budget or along those lines.:flower:

Hope this helps :winkwink:

I plan meals for the week, then make my shopping list from that.

I find that if I do that then I always have what I need (unless DF eats something as a snack after work that was planned to be used in another meal) and don't really need top up shops.

I have a free shopping list app on my phone- when i ntoice we've run out of something or nearly have I add it on. So handy for when I'm doing the grocery shopping - has made me so much more organised!

It also saves all the items you've previously added so you can run down them as a momery-jogger before going shopping and add them to the list.

I am becoming such a domestic geek :)

What app is this?? Need it! I am horrible at grocery shopping its ridiculous.

I plan my meals for the week down to a T (how many chicken breasts will I need, how many cucumbers etc) and do it from that- usually I manage. I don't drink tea or coffee but I do buy milk in case I have visitors or my parents come round and I don't really eat bread either but get it just in case- these are usually the only things that get wasted but even then most of the time I remember to throw them in the freezer or give them to someone else.

I know lots of people love ALDI and LIDL- I have brought things in there occasionally but I don't have one that close by and I find things go off quicker then from the mainstream supermarkets.

I plan week ahead also..buy bulk items in Costco to save running about and then store cupboard essentials..used to drive me mad doing mid week top ups and always spent more .
