For those of you that had stretch and sweep...

I have just had a stretch and sweep. My second baby, 2 days over and I've since had bleeding. I'm having tightenings and stuff and I'm really hopeful! Also I'm 1cm dilated and 50% effaced!

So my question is:
Those of you that had stretch and sweep
Did it work and if so how soon after?
Was that with a subsequent pregnancy or with ur first?
What was ur cervix up to eg dilated or effaced prior to sweep?
How many weeks were you when you had your first sweep?

I am desperate to have this baby now I want cuddles!!

I was 39 weeks but in pre labour for 2 weeks. Second pregnancy. Only remember being 2cms dilated. 5 hours after having it done my waters went xx

1) Yep it worked - waters went after 12 hours baby born 24 hrs after that
2) First baby
3) Don't really remember think they said it was thinning don't think they thought I was particularly dilated. They def thought baby was really low though so they were quite hopeful from that
4) 39+5 - meant baby wa born on his EDD!

Ooo I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but it seems positive. Did you guys both have bloody shows with it? I've had some blood loss xx

1) 1st one didn't, second started contractions but never got into established labour and needed inducing and ended in EMCS
2) First baby
3) I was 2cm dialated and stretchy and thin
4) 40+6 and 41+2

Which each I had one when I was in the very early stages of labour (1cm)
DD1 - 38 weeks, had her 8 hours later
DD2 - 39+6, had her 30 hours later
DS - 39+4, had him 4 hours later

How many weeks were you when you had your first sweep? i think i was about 10 days overdue!!

i was so ready for baby to come out. tried everything! sex curries scrubbing floor. i ended up getting induced. still no baby, then had emcs.

2nd baby was 40+3 when I had my sweep, was 3cm. Had sweep at 10:30am and had my baby boy 19:23 same day.

I was 40+2 with my first baby. First sweep was already 4cm dialated and went into labour 10 hours later.

I had a stretch (no sweep) at 38+1 and I had my LO two days later at 38+3
It was my first pregnancy
Cervix was already 2cm

Wow that was so quick!! When did the labour actually kick off? Ive so far only had tightenings and some mild cramping and of course the blood loss. I had my sweep at 12.30pm xx

They did a stretch and sweep on me at 1 cm dilated 50 percent effaced and I lost my plug later that day and then that night my water broke..gave birth about 40 hours later but that's unusual I think because my lo was back to back

Mine is also back to back! Oo so we are fairly similar here! I'm very hopeful that this works!! xx

I got some mucussy bleeding afterwards and back pain for most of the evenig afterwards (baby back to back) Got proper full show in the middle of the night shortly before waters went. Good luck!

I had 5! Yes, five! sweeps leading up to my little man's arrival - One at 41+1 (1cm) weeks, then 41+3 (2cm) (which kick started contractions, then went into hospital and was sent home twice at 41+4 (2-3 cm) contractions all through this, induction (well, to have waters broken) was booked for 41+5, had another sweep (3cm) sent home because there was no room on delivery, then came in the next morning 41+6 (3cm) then he arrived in the early hours of the next morning!

Yes it was. Took my daughter to the park at 15:30 cos still not felt any contractions so thought the walk would kick things off and it did very quickly. Felt 1st contraction about 16:00 had about 2 that went 15-20 mins inbetween then they went to every 5 mins then 2 mins very quickly. A 2 min walk back from the park took about 15 mins but luckily had my mum with me. So from my 1st felt contraction to birth was just over 3 hours. xx

had a sweep with my daughters.

with my first i had it at 40+5 and went into labour 2days later. i wasnt dilated any beforehand.

with my second i had it on my due date was 3cms dilated already, had pains for hours after and went into labour 9days later.

At 36.5w I was 1.5cm and had the stretch and sweep (I was to be induced that week anyways). The next day I lost my plug and had some bleeding. I had irregular contractions on and off until I was induced 2 days later. I think the sweep helped move me along a bit, but seeing as I was induced I can't say if it would have put me into labour.
