how many days a week and for how long do you exercise at a time?

:flower:

I go to the gym 3 times a week (sometimes twice if busy at weekend). Im there for 1 and a 1/2 hours each time, I do 20 mins x-trainer, 15 mins rower, and 15 mins treadmill. The rest of the time on weights. I do tailor the weights to suit me though, Ive cut down on the shoulder and chest press as my shoulders were bulking up too much. I was told 3 days a week at the gym was the minimum needed to lose weight. I also walk to work every day (3 miles a day, 5 days a week).
Hope this helps, you look fab in your weight-loss journal btw, well done on the loss so far! :flower:

4 days a week, about 45 min (+ getting ready, warming up so about 1.5hr), my log has it all, I dont do cardio

thanks for your answers! :D

I've been doing the EA Active but can only fit about 30 minutes in (during Hannah's nap) and have been doing 3 days a week. Was considering upping it to more days a week but tbh I like having those 2 free days to read a book or something during nap time  anyways was curious as to if I'm doing enough or should be trying to fit more in etc. :D

I'm a big believer in going hard & heavy, doing the max in a shorter amount of time. Here's my theory - if you can go for more than 45 minutes, you aren't going hard enough ^_^

You should enjoy working out, dont force yourself to do more and make yourself bored/unhappy, otherwise you could put yourself off. I agree with aliss too, an intense workout is a good workout, as long as you dont overdo it!

thanks those are both good points :D

so far I enjoy it after a few minutes in  but I don't want to come to resent doing it because if I do than I'll stop and that's no good!

I try to go three times a week, I was only going to the pool from March until now, I've now added a gym membership. (I used to go to the gym quite often but stopped about 2.5 years ago... also the reason I gained weight, didn't stop eating and stopped going to the gym... stuuuupid! ) :dohh:
I will be hitting the gym 2-3 times a week and the pool once.

I don't go for too long, an hour max, I'm focusing on cardio the most atm because I'm trying to hit a goal for Christmas. With weights I follow the same reasoning as the ladies above, low reps higher weights. And don't be scared about bulking up too much! It's quite hard for a normal woman to start looking like a bodybuilder!

I exercise for around 20 minutes a day, and a little more on the weekends.

Depends on how much time i have on my hands, months go id do to hard 30mins twice a day 5 x a week.

Now my youngest at the ' i need 50 eyes' stage its harder.

Also ive had big gap on my exercise as my main bit of kit was taken away.
Im back onto 10min hard session 3 x a week.

It really depends on what you want to achieve from exercise as to how often you should do it, and to what intensity.

To keep us healthy, we need to undertake 30mins of gentle exercise a day. That's just to maintain a healthy heart and get us moving. Like taking the dog for a walk, or going for a bike ride. Sadly about 80% of people in the UK don't do this, which is resulting in growing obesity levels which cost the NHS about £3 billion a year

Yeah, good point. I have to admit that I don't even consider that to be exercise (just "life") but it's shocking how few people actually MOVE around in the day.

I do work out heavy in the gym 4x a week for 45 min-1hr but 7 days a week, I'm out walking the dog 3-4x a day with the baby in a sling, for about 1.5 hr total

mix it up a bit with something other than the active.

I wish I had my old treadmill.. I used to do 2.5 miles a day @ 1 hour... 10 minutes of that on a high grade incline... pretty intense for me... considering now I get winded climbing a flight of stairs

and don't let anyone tell ya :sex: is does not count as your daily exercise.. get those extra WW points :winkwink:

Ditto, and it is shocking. Obesity related illnesses are one of the biggest killers in the UK and USA. I watched a chat show over here which featured it recently, and their was a Mother on it who recently lost her daughter to morbid obesity. NO ONE should die from morbid obesity! It is totally preventable!

Honestly it gets me so wound up, I was shouting in sheer frustration at the TV. It's why I am doing my studies to be a personal trainer, I was obese once, I know how hard it is. I want to specialise in weight management issues, especially obesity.

Stan has already bought me a couple of more fitness games for the Wii for Christmas! :yipee: as well as (hopefully) some weights and better resistance bands that I asked for

I generally get in a decent walk every day just doing things and going places with Hannah

A personal trainer told me this too. These people who spend hours in the gym aren't doing themselves any more good than someone who does 30-45 mins
