Did you still feel odd weeks afterwards?
I gave birth over 3 weeks ago, I'm taking iron tablets but I don't feel right still - I'm sort of putting it down to developing anaemia but just wanna see if anyone else has felt like I do ...
I'm dizzy a lot like my head is swimming, and especially when I lay down I feel a heaviness in my chest and throat like it's sort of hard to breathe almost. I sometimes feel like I could pass out when I lay down because of the heaviness I feel.

I'm not eating like I should because it's so difficult to find time! But even when i have eaten properly, it doesn't make any difference so I can't imagine it's anything to do with blood sugar levels.

Anyone have any insight? I'd go to the doctors but I don't have time for that right now.

I didn't have one this time but I did with my first and can totally relate to what you describe. I think I felt odd until around the six week mark but I wasn't taking my iron tablets religiously as they were making me horrifically constipated. Definitely keep up with your supplements but it's worth mentioning at your 6 week check if you're still feeling strange. Eat plenty of red meat too!

Did you ever know the cause of the symptoms?
Maybe I just won't bother ever trying to lay down again, it's not like I sleep anyway - I think I've developed some lovely insomnia to go with everything else now. Brilliant.

No, from what I can recall things had got enough back to normal by my 6 week check where I had intended to mention it that I didn't, and I just put it down to a normal recovery thing. I had so many weird symptoms during that time, like a kind of vertigo where I constantly felt like I was on a swaying boat, and my heart beating (what felt like) really really slowly. Again these all disappeared on their own. If you're worried tho I would see your doc - it wouldn't hurt to get a blood test or something to check all your levels. Have you had any anxiety at all?

Oh my god, I have those exact symptoms too!!! I'm so relieved to know that I'm not the only one! And to know that you felt better eventually takes a weight off my mind. I was describing those exact feelings to my mum yesterday - my brain feels like it's swimming and my body like its on a boat. And the heart thing, when I lay down. Gosh!! I'm generally an anxious person, but with having my daughter I feel like I'm on high alert all the time. Especially at night, every sound she makes sends what feels like an electric shock through my body and I'm constantly on edge.

I'll try go for a blood test just to check my blood levels are as they should be now. Peace of mind more than anything.

It's crazy how it messes up your body! I know what you mean about the electric shock feeling too when baby cries. Your body has been through a lot and your stress hormones etc are probably all over the place as well in response to the trauma, so these kind of things are magnified. I haven't felt any of these things this time (with a straight forward labour) so I can only surmise it's a direct result of having a horrible, horrible time.

Try to relax and rest as much as possible and do eat/drink properly because it will all help. Hope you're feeling lots better very soon! :flower:
