So ive been breastfeeding my baby but its become far too demanding hes wanting a feed every 2 hours sometimes more!! and i just cant keep up with it... also i cant feed him and express aswell as there just isint enough milk left to do so! and my social life is suffering!...

So i decided to try him on formula... i used SMA Gold... but every single time he has had it he ends up either spitting it up or with terrible tummy pains and just screams... it also makes him a little constipated so ive ended up going back to feeding!

I dont want to give him it as it really upsets him and i feel like im poisoning him its awful! any suggestions what to do??

Hi hun. U can try another brand like aptamil 1 or normal SMA. My LO is ff frm day one but when we tried him on a Gold formula he had a bad reaction. Most of my bfing friends use hypoallergic (HA) formula while bfing xx

id try cow and gate. SMA is known for making babies constipated x

If at all possible I would mix breast milk with the formula. It sounds to me like a classic case of diet being changed too quickly. The "ingredients" in the two milks are different so it will have a big effect on babies system. The best way to change over is to mix most milk with a little formula for a few days, then adding in more formula. Try breast feeding for however long minus a couple minutes and then give half an ounce of formula for a couple days. Then breast feed for half the time, and give 2 ounces formula.....does this make any sense?

Basically, to change from one formula to another you will feed 1 part new formula with 10 parts old formula for three days, then 2 parts new formula with 8 parts old formula for three days, then 4 parts new formula with 4 parts old formula.....basically try to do that with breast milk and new formula.
