Formula milk....does anyone really...

I make them as he needs them. But I don't warm his bottles anymore. So I just pour the water and add the formula, if I was to put them in the fridge it would take me longer. Noah is an older baby though.

I use concentrated formula so I make up a jug that lasts 24 hours usually... And then I just pour however much I need into each bottle.

I make them 1 at a time, for my convenience really. I just pour 6 oz (it's marked on the bottle) room temp water or warm water and 3 scoops powder (it's 1 scoop per 2 oz), and shake. It's much faster then going to the fridge, taking it out and then having to warm it up, and Kathryn wouldn't have the patience!

Ive always made up a batch each evening, pop in fridge then warm up when needed.

they only changed guidlines a while back, untill then the formula box stated you could make up in advance and put in fridge.

keely.

I was doing it as it said on the tin but it was a nightmare. Katie was screaming for food whilst i was trying to cool them. My health visitor recommended putting half the required water in the bottles in the morning and store in fridge. Then when you need one boil kettle (or have a flask of hot water ready) and top up the cold water to the required amount then add powder. The temperature should be just right when it's mixed together and it will be sterile. It works for us.

A little update on this one...the book the hv gave me (endorsed by the NHS) says store made up bottles in the fridge for 24 hours.

I love the consistent advice we get as new parents, I think you've just got to trust your instincts. Like PP says, I bet most of our mums did it this way and we turned out ok (ish!)

You arent wrong there. Personally I doubt the instructions are for babies benefit, just for the "State the bloody obvious" brigade who put the *may contain nuts* warnings on nuts!. Probably one to many people had a red hot bottle h'explode in their face or something so they demand everyone time their water like an athlete with a stop watch.

I made it how the tin said so. It was easy, simple and didn't take more than 10 seconds. I kept clean bottles right next to the formula and made the bottle fresh on demand. I did try once putting water in the bottles, but it became a big hassle and a mess. With the formula we used you coulnd't make it in advanced because it can only be left out for an hour or it would turn bad, which would in return give Hunter a tummyache (MIL did that and he had an upset tummy for a day or two).

I sterlise the bottles and add the boiled water and then add the formula as and when I need it x

i made up every feed when ever zane cried for it i didnt pre make any lol n i still do i keep thinkin shall i make all 6 at one go but i never do lol

i make them fresh but only cause i only make 2 up a day cause i bf as well so its easy for me, if jack had bottles all the time i dont think i would, but sometime i fine it is quicker to just make a fresh one then get it out the fridge and put it in the bottle warmer

I make each one fresh when I need it, I find it easy to be honest.
